Water effect

#1 Post by Prince of Spires »

Does anyone know a good way to make water effects? Think flowing river kind of idea. So moving water, rapids, blue-ish patches etc.

i know there are some water effect products out there. Which are good? And, equally important, which are available in the Netherlands? Are there other ways to achive a good water effect?

Thanks :)

That could be interesting. I also remember him using neat water effects on some of his samurai bases, but I can't track it down at the moment.

I can't speak to which products are available in the Netherlands but Envirotex Lite is my product of choice.

Easy to mix, pour and eliminate bubbles. Hardens very quickly with a full cure in no more than 48 hours. Easily tinted as well.

Thanks for the link and the product. I'll have a look into it to see what to do and if I can get it here in the netherlands.

I Suggest looking into water effects for model trains. I use a product that is made of silicone pellets that you heat up until they melt. Pour it down a waterfall setup, or into a a pool and it makes clear "water". You can paint it too. Here is an example of info you might find on model train water effectshttp://www.building-your-model-railroad ... falls.html it may be easy for you to find model train products where your at.

I've never used their water effects products, however I have used a lot of their other products and they are great. Woodland Scenics are fairly popular and if you can't find them in the Netherlands you would certainly be able to order their products on-line very easily.

They have several how-to videos on their website, here's one for waterfalls....look extremely easy to do.

This turns out well.

....and a longer more in-depth tutorial to create different effects like ripples, white water etc.

Not a fan of woodland scenics water products. I have used both Realistic Water and Water Effects and found them very lacking. Realistic Water never cures truly hard. Rather, it ends up forming into something with a consistency similar to melted plastic. You can push it and leave imprints in it. It also can take up to a week to set correctly.

I again champion Envirotex. In 24 hours, it is completely hard to the touch.
