Just a little update,

I've made the Sisters and the two Phoenii, but have also had a good stab at breaking the back of the painting of the reavers. So here is a little WIP of them.

Image

I am also keen to have some Silver helms but I was really struggling to find a suitable combo of parts to allow for them. (I dislike the stock models so much). However the new shadow warrior helmets have solved my problem. I'm having a unit of 9 of these, and have more horses on order. I'm also trying out some new resin bases to enable me to make a senic tray for them. It will have streetlights and trees when i'm done.

C&C is, as always, welcome.

I like the Silverhelms (Shadow Warrior heads?), but they will have a distinctly Nagarythean feel to them by the looks of it. It'll be interesting to see how they fit with your other units.

The full faced helms make them look a little too sinister, but you're amazing white paints might take the edge off it.
The Reavers look nice, if you have extra harbingers, chop the sword arm at the elbow and add a Spear elf arm, having a few with spears gives the unit so much character.

Very nice! I love that you actually used my spearman idea. Very well executed too! I love the colour scheme. Will all the horses be the same colour? I personall like to vary. Keep up the good work!

I love those Silver Helms.

What are they made out of? I see the shadow warrior helms but what are the bodies and the horses?

Looks like Cold One Knight bodies and legs, with some greenstuff over the armour on the legs, to break up the Dark Elf look.

@Sarcon - too good to miss. I've seen them on the circuit a lot these days however. You started a trend!

Thanks for the comments guys.

The Silver Helms (or White Helms by the time i'm done with them) are made up of the following
Arch Mage Horse (yes, 9 of them)
SilverHelm Champion Legs
Lord Lance (non-Star Lance version)
Wizards Left Arm
Greenstuff necks
Some ramdom DE bodies me mate gave me.
Wood elf bigts for Champ
Fancy Smchancy Cobbled bases.

These will be the ultimate white knights (ignoring the fact they die a lot and are not the awesome to look at either!)

They do look really vicious without paint. So much so i'd be tempted to do a similar build for a vampire lord in my other army, but i'm very confident i can make these look the part.
Flower power, a little bit of gardening and some grass; that's all it takes to change perception

IN OTHER NEWS.
the reavers are nearly finished. I'm away for the Weekend but i hope to have the reavers and sisters posted on here in-time for next weekend.

I think the helms look sinister because of the lack of plumage. The sleek closed in helms give them a dark and alien look rather than knightly. I'm sure that will change with the application of color though.

Firstly: Sorry.

I missed the deadline of the weekend end past to upload an update. The reason is because the Magpie stuck again and I've started every unit, but finished none... totally.

So, I have 3 more nights to finish the list. It looks quite possible, although I'm desperately trying to find some painted bolt throwers in Manchester I can borrow for the weekend. Just so I can use the 6hrs they would take on movement trays..

Here is a shot of my work station as of 00:25 17/07/13. The army is out. They are ready for battle. Saturday awaits!!!

I've just re-read this thread.

It appears that if I don't have a tournament, I don't paint.

Hello again.

Some more WIP's for you all. The weather is really playing with the paints. The UK is having a bit of a heatwave and its drying my paints before it even gets to the models!!! As you can imagine, painting white smoothly is not really effective while sat in Vauls Forge. I'v etherefore decided i'll upload the progress now because i'm not convinced I'll finish them now in time for tomorrow.

It's not the end of the world. I'd rather wait to finish them in decent weather than rush them and damage the models. A couple of the Silver Helms have really dodgey shoulder pads now. Combination of crap casts on the Cold One Riders bodies and paint that is both too thin and too thick within 5 seconds... Overall i'm really pleased with how they are coming out.

I also decided i wasn't a massive fan of the GW Phoenix model and as I had a CMON Owl unpainted in my Woodelf army, i decided to use that. I then bought another one and can now Double Phoenix the hell out of Manchester/Stockport! I'm really happy with these models. The sculpt is amazing, but unfortunately there are quite a few issues with their casting process. Green Stuff sorted it out, but it's still a pain. Worth the hassle i think tho.

C&C as always, welcomed.

If I manage to get anymore done, then I will be sure to take pics for you. I'm also going to take some pictures of the tournament tomorrow and sunday which i will upload too.

Very nice, though even with all the white the Silver Helms still have that sinister feel.

It's very striking just how much white there is! It makes it all the more impressive with how well done it is.

Hello peeps

I've been away taking a new job and having a baby and being generally more interested in sleep than warhammer, however there is a fillip injected into me again. As usual (if you've read my previous posts) i have a tournament and want a new list and therefore... need new models...

So i've made some more glade riders, sisters of the thorny thorns and a few scouts. Hopefully these will be painted and based in time.

In the meantime - a WIP
