I have finished the five remaining White Lions and I've taken a picture of them with my new mobile phone, which turned out pretty good. I'll take more pics, and post them here, after this weekend since I'm going to a tournament. I'll post some pics from the tournament as well if there is any interest.

I only have four, really really bad pictures from the tournament. I'll post the links if you want to look at them.

http://i315.photobucket.com/albums/ll48 ... 1280272601
http://i315.photobucket.com/albums/ll48 ... 1280272600
http://i315.photobucket.com/albums/ll48 ... 1280272599

The first 2 are from the first game which was against Skaven and Dark Elves in the Meeting Engagement scenario. It was hard fought and ended in a draw because we ran out of time.

The other 2 pictures are from the 4th game which was against Kislev and Empire in the Blood and Glory scenario which we won.

I've been painting something different for the past two days now since I am growing a little bit tired of painting the white/grey scheme of my army. It is still a High Elf but it is being painted in reds and gold instead of white and silver, so it is like the total opposite of my main army. I don't know if It will be just a single model or if I will begin a second High Elves army using a red scheme instead of a white one for variety. However, here are a couple of the mage I'm working on. The first one shows the skin nicely while the second one shows the rest better, the actual model looks somewhat like a mix of these two pictures.

C&C on this one is very appreciated.

I like the mage. It looks great. I might nick this idea and use it on one of my own mages (or a slight variation on it) as my main color scheme is Red and white.

The only thing I would say is that I would give more contrast to some of the items around her waist (like the bottle thing on the left in the picture, or the feater on the right "in" her cloack). They blend a bit into her dress and are thus not very noticable.

The mage is still very wip but I know what you mean about contrast. The bottle will be either green or blue, haven't decided yet, and the gems will be blue just as they are in my standard scheme.

Here are a couple of pictures of the finished white lion unit, as well as another army shot.

I very much like the colour scheme of your army, it's nice and unique :)

Also, the cloaks on the White Lions look very good, natural :)

I like so much the idea of your silver helms, also the maidens unit is very well executed sir. I have to say i had missed completely that you had a full army painted until just now! I think i always saw the 2nd page of this thread thinking it was the 1st.

Thanks a lot for your comments guys! :D

I have finished another noble, from reaper miniatures. I bought her a pretty long while ago and haven't painted her until now. She isn't very high elfy in the GW way but I like her and it is nice to have some different models to make your army more unique.

I'm a fan of the Reaper elf minis too. :) Want to buy some to use as female mages some day... This one's showing a lot of skin... Spent some time in a Slaaneshi cult hm? :P I like her, but a small criticism is that the skin could use one more layer of definition. Maybe it's the picture but it sort of blends into one colour. Then again, my own skin painting is not exactly stellar so... Great army though. I'm watching it evolve with interest!

They have some really nice models, I have one more from them standing in the painting queue and will probably be painted in 6 months or so. I have my look on another 2 as well but I won't be buying then until I've finished the things that I already have planned.

I like using models such as this one that breaks the aesthetics of GW's High Elves since it makes the army more interesting and unique. I have a mage that I painted a while back that also breaks the GW aesthetics quite a lot, if you remember her.

The picture does blend the colours into one other a bit, but it is taken with my mobile phone so it isn't the best quality. I could have painted another layer or 2 at the skin but I got bored with painting it, but perhaps I'll go back to her some day in the future.

Thanks for your replies guys :)

I'm working at some spearmen at the moment, but Elaithnir's log inspired me to go back and change the horses on my dragon princes. I repainted the mane and tails with Adeptus Battlegrey and gave the whole horse a wash of Badab Black. I think they became much better than before.

nothing more to add really, as others have said your army is unique, yet i'll say this: YAY for no blondies in the army! (never understood the whole blond hair and elf thing...)

Thank you. That piece of art is really nice and was one of the things that inspired me when I started to paint my elves this way.

Thank you. The simple reason for the lack of blondes is that I didn't have any colours suitable for painting blonde hair when I started.
The more advanced reason is that since the models are so bright they need the darker hair to add contrast.

The first batch of spearmen are about 80% done by now so I should be able to post pictures of them within a few days time.

Meanwhile I have started to write some fluff about the army and the characters in it. This is the first part and hopefully there will be many more.

Part 1
Nordland, The Empire
2522 IC

The northern wind was freezing as it lashed at Alidan's face without mercy. The iron grey sky was matched by the furious sea which relentlessly pounded the shore. In hindsight it was almost a miracle that they had been able to land here at all in that frail looking boat which was now returning back towards the hawkship that lay anchored offshore. Alidan pulled up his hood, to give himself some small protection against the chilling wind, and signalled to his small band of scouts to follow him. Their mission in this unbeautiful land known to the men of the Empire as the Nordland was to secure a safe landing site for the rest of the army that was to come here in a week's time.

They had wandered along the coastline for several hours when they heard the sound of horses galloping behind them. Alidan quickly ordered his men to hide, their grey cloaks would make them almost invisible against the rock formation they hid in. A couple of minutes late the riders appeared and reined in their mounts just outside the rock formation in which Alidan and his men were hiding.
There were 10 of them led by a muscular man in his forties with an impressive moustache. The men were carrying bows and swords and didn't appear to wear much armour besides their huge fur cloaks that were shielding them from the piercing wind.

”Here sergeant Peiter, "'twas here I saw the movement sir” said the youngest looking of them. He couldn't be more than 20 years old.
”You sure Hans?” asked the moustached sergeant ”'Cause I didn't see no movement”
He paused for a moment before dismounting.
”Doesn't hurt to take a look though” he said as he started walking towards the rock formation.
It wasn't long before he noticed the elves hiding in there. Upon being discovered Alidan stood up and opened his mouth to speak. He didn't get the chance though before the human had drawn a pistol and pointed it at his chest.
”Well, well” Peiter said smiling, ”elves hiding out in the rocks eh? Up to no good are you now?”
”We were j...” Alidan began to reply but was once again interrupted when Peiter started talking again.
”Typical bloody elves, just movin' 'round as if you owned the place. Always takin' stuff and raiding our towns aren't you?” He said with his voice raised somewhat.
”That would be the druchii you are talking about. We are asur, and we do not raid the towns of your land” Alidan replied trying to stay as calm as you can with an aggressive human pointing a gun at you.
”Elves are elves, and I ain't carin' about what fancy names you've got for yourself. I say that we take you our now, so you won't be raiding no towns any more. Men draw your swords!”
As the Peiter spoke these words his men drew their swords and started threateningly at the elves, whom they outnumbered two to one.
”We are not raiding your land, we are just passing through. Just as regular travellers do all the time” Alidan replied still trying to stay calm, but at the same time his warrior eyes were scanning the faces of each human looking for signs that could tell him when they were about to attack.
”Just passin' through? Right, like I'd fall for that filthy elf. Attack!” Peiter screamed his last words.

A fraction of a second later Alidan had drawn his sword and decapitated the human just as he was about to pull the trigger of his pistol. The dead sergeant's men wavered for a second before charging the outnumbered elves with fury shining in their eyes. Alidan parried the slow thrust from one of the humans before trusting his own blade towards his opponent's gut. The human managed to throw himself backwards just in time to avoid being impaled by the elven blade. Taking advantage of his foe's momentarily loss of balance Alidan brought his sword down on the man's chest, cutting a deep gash that stained his grey fur crimson. The human was already dying when Alidan finished him of with a quick thrust though the heart.
Taking a quick look around Alidan saw that his men had more or less beaten the humans, though Firinir had been killed by one of them. He started to move towards the melee again, but before he could get there the remaining two humans broke and ran for their horses and started a riding away from the skirmish. Aldian grimly raised his longbow and saw his remaining men do the same. The last two humans died as their bodies were penetrated by white fletched elven arrows.

Thank you :) Part 2 will come soon.

Meanwhile I've finished the first batch of spearmen. I am very pleased with them and painting their hands as gloves significantly reduces the big hands syndrome that they are suffering from. Hopefully the Silver Helm shields won't fall of all the time as the regular spearmen shields always do.

University starts again in one weeks time so there will probably be less painting after that. Hopefully I can finish another 6 spearmen before that though.

I have to say... with all the rest... very nice painting. I don't usually like high elves in light colours, but yours work out *very* well.

My own army is close in colour scheme to the red mage that you painted, which looks very nice. Just as a point on that model (rather than your painting of it)... anyone else think that in the 2nd picture of it, its rather large head makes it look like a cross dresser? ;)

Also, one thing that has always annoyed me about the high elves is the lack of female models. Since they ditched maiden guard (*SO* wish i had some of those) there have been basically none. I feel like this isn't really in line with the high elf fluff; you'd think everyone would be marching to war, seeing as there are so few of us. Your army has got a nice lot of them in the characters and in the maiden guard, which I am very happy to see :)

Thanks for your comments :)

Telabir: It will probably work great, and it probably won't look as awkward as my champion's huge axe does ;)

First, a better picture of the spearmen:
Image

Thanks to wilsongrahams of warseer I have gathered just about every high elf miniature I own and deployed them on a table, it took a white but it looks really epic. Not every model I own is in the picture since some are broken and some haven't been assembled yet, I'd estimate that about 95% of all my high elves can be seen in the pictures.

I hope you like them :)

That is one epic looking army! It looks great. And you have a nice and very uniform paint scheme on them all.

Do you have any idea how many points it is (roughly)?
