Here are a couple of pictures of a model that is a little bit special because it is the first ever non-GW model that I've painted.

Unfortunately the camera's batteries died after 2 pictures :(

That's a Reaper mini right? It looks familiar... Either way. Very nice.

I´ve only seen those maiden´s guard one or two times by some veteran player when i first started playing, i think they were used just as spearmen rulewise but i still remember those miniatures. Probably because they´re the only elves who looks good with short skirts

I quite like the rest of your army as well, thought i am not too fan of the white/blue scheme you somehow managed to make it look good to my eyes. That eagle is the one that came with the wood elf archmage on eagle right? I had that miniature as well, never liked the so-called eagle much but as you say it does the work just fine. I would recommend thought that if you are interested in good looking eagles to take a look at gamezone miniatures, they have several eagle models which are simply awesome, much better than anything GW has. Here have a look: http://www.gamezoneminiatures.de/index. ... Elves.html

I also like your mage, but in some parts (specially the belly) it looks as if the paint is not thin enough. Or perhaps it have to do with the photo, i bet with an actual eye observation i would not notice anything. Also it seems to me like she is dressed pretty much like a slaanesh devotee, i would be careful... or not. Other than that i think a blue cloak instead of grey would give the mini more deep, or the other way around.

Yes, it's from reaper and it's called Alastriel, elf sorceress or something like that.

It's to bad that they don't make them anymore, I would buy lots of them even if they were priced as the Goldswords.

You mean grey/white right? The only blue things on my army is the gems.

I have no idea on where the eagle model is from, I got it from a friend who had it in a box in his basement. The Gamezone eagles are nice, I'll keep them in mind when I buy some more eagles.

The paint might be a bit thick on her belly, but you won't notice that unless you look really close, or on a photo ;)
The model isn't exactly like the GW high elves are, but a little variety isn't bad :D

The next project is a unit of White Lions which I'll start paint tomorrow.

A tiny update. I've been working on some Ellyrian Reaver conversions and I have a couple of questions for you.
- Does the head that I've used work with the body or is it to big?
- The spears that I have left doesn't fit very well with the models, how do you feel about giving them all swords instead like the musician in the picture below?

And finally a wip of the white lions I'm working with, should be done within the next few days or so.

Thank you :)
The red/gold armour is painted with Shining Gold, washed with Chestnut Ink and then drybrushed with Shining Gold. Chestnut ink was a wonderful colour for painting gold, but GW doesn't make it anymore and I ran out of it just after I had done the Swordmasters :(

The White Lions are finally done, and I'll wait until June to paint the 5 that remains. Tomorrow I'll start working on some more Maiden Guards, and I'm sure that will be great

I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out in the end as they ended up nicer than I thought that they would.

So some pictures of the White Lions, comments and critique are most welcome!

Thank you very much, I might have some finished maiden guards this weekend, hopefully.

I'm trying to keep an even pace and paint about 200 points each month. Unless something unforeseen happens I'll have a 2000 points army finished a week or two before 8th edition arrives, only to invalidate it until I paint some more core troops:(

Yeah, nice Lions!

Interesting standard. I swapped the Phoenix out for something else too. Gives the unit a slightly different look.

Looking good!

What colors/methods are you using on the lion cloaks? I'll be doing up my chariots in the future and so am looking for some tips.

Nice! No prizes for guessing which magic standard it is!

I used the Phoenix I saved for my BSB conversion. Definite shades of a Roman eagle.

SpellArcher:
Yes it does give the unit a bit of a different look, the original thought was to unify each regiment with the dragon, or whatever it is, on the standard. I didn't do it on the Maiden Guards though as I didn't want do modify those models.

Bolt Thrower:
Thanks :)
The cloaks were painted as follows:
Basecoat of Khemri Brown
Heavy drybrush with Bleached Bone
Light drybrush on the raised areas with Skull White.

Botjer:
Thank you :)
It's a bit of a brave colour scheme, and I was concerned about it at the start but when I had a few units done it looked really great. From time to time I'm still a bit uncertain about it though, but that usually passes once the unit I'm doing at the time is finished ;)

Greenman:
Thank you very much :)
The lion would probably look better, and I tried to change it once but it didn't really work so I kept it as it is.

It's interesting, as when I did my Maiden Guard, I converted a new musician out of a spare champion model I had. It didn't work though, the old one was better, happy I reinstated her now!

Left the standard bearer as she was, except for adding a couple of plastic ribbons to the banner pole, which worked OK.

been a while, how's the army going now? If you haven't already, I think you should get a BSB, with the colour scheme and your painting I think it could be pretty awesome.

It has been going really slowly since I finished the white lions. Another RBT just needs some finishing touches before it is done, and the crew needs painting as well. Another 4 maiden guards + a small unit filler are about 50% done. However, the new edition is slowly awakening my painting interest again so those models should be done pretty soon.

I finished converting my BSB just a few days ago, nothing big really just a few personal touches. He is one of my highest painting priorities after I'm done with the rbt and maids.
The painting queue is roughly the following at the moment:
Maiden Guards
RBT
BSB
White Lions
Tiranoc Chariot
Swordmaster Command
Spearmen
Dragon

Finally there is an update. The Maiden Guards are done and I am really happy with the unit. I'm once again back into painting and will start on the remaining White Lions today and they have to be finished until a tournament next Saturday so I'll upload pictures before then.

C&C on the models are as always very appreciated!

That's a stunning army you've got there! A real inspiration that you've managed to paint so many models.

Some feedback on the maiden guards:

- Good job on the gems! They really make the quivers stand out.
- The skin is the best part on these, wouldn't change it!
- The robes could use some work. I'd go with one more layer to smoothen the transition.
- Give the musicians horn a wash

Hope to see chariots done soon! :)

Thanks for your feedback Leoniidi it is very appreciated. They could probably use another layer on their robes just like you say, and at first I planned to have 5 layers. I dropped it to 3 just because I'm lazy and wanted to paint them minis fairly quickly.

theviking: I use Bronzed Flesh washed with Devlan Mud and then layered with several layers of Elf Flesh. I don't know is Bronzed Flesh still available though.
