hey guys, i came back to the painting bench last weeks, so far ive been working on some bigguns and the savage boar rider boyz. You will notice the boar i painted belongs to a normal unit of boar boyz, this is because the savage orc box was missing half a boar and i had to use one from the other kit. I plan to exchange it for the one boar i have painted with no armor on it, so it will fit better withing the savages.

So, some pics, they are pretty bad, but in this northern hell is hard to get decent light at all. even the houses are poorly illuminated and the one from my painting lamp alone doesnt cut it.

The banner turned out pretty nice i believe. I hope you also like it. Heres a closer one on it.

Fantastic banner and top notch painting in general =D>

I'm so buying those boars to act as Razorgor for my Beastmen

That's an understatement... It's a great banner. Both the savage boar riders and the unit of bigguns are starting to look great.

And at the moment it's actually pretty nice weather in that northern hell... ;)

These orcs look awesome ! The banner is indeed very nice, with a very John Blanche-esque feeling.

Perhaps the red should have been a bit more vibrant in order to blend in better with the whole feeling you're going for, but that is just a tiny detail

I don't know if this has been said but maybe you could have a look at Louise Sugden's blog on Tumblr, she does savage orks for 40k which have a somewhat similar vibe...

That is indeed crazy colorful. But it somehow works together. And some of those conversions are amazing. Very original and well thought out. Thanks for the link.

when i look at the model i feel i went too far in the contrast between the obscured skin and its lighted parts. Nonetheless, IRL looks cool... if you imagine he's covered himself in whiteish warpaint

Its the side effect of trying different skin tones every model... some are better, some worse and some, some are just weird..

It works on the model, though in the picture it does indeed look like he's covered in a lot of white warpaint :)

hey guys, champion done. This week could barely do any painting due to lots of overtime, but snatched a few minutes here and there to finish this one up. Lets see if i can finish the banner during the weekend and then the shaman in another week, that one model is deliciously busy.

thanks.. This unit is a little bit too much of a circus #-o #-o I went too far with the savage feeling. Banner done, and unit now completed. Now its turn for the finecast ''falling on itself'' shaman.

I think the circus feeling can be fixed by simply making the unit twice as big... Making it bigger would (or at least could) reduce the variations in skin color and mount color. Which makes it more uniform and less all over the place.

That being said, it doesn't bother me. I think they look great, and it matches the rest of the army in how varied the models are. I think they'll look fine (if a bit extravagant) when they're in the middle of the rest of your army.

hahah extravagant is the word... I completely disregarded the overall look while i painted each model. In my mind it was only to make them different from one another hahaha.

Not a chance im painting any more models BTW  Im really close to finish orcs now, i think only 4-6 months to go after +3 years of full dedication!

Something slightly...Egyptian about that banner?

I really like how you've done his boar Mireadur.

yeah i think im an expert in boars. They come out quite nice. Its a very very rewarding model when painting it. This way of making animal hair or feathers of GW models allows to paint one by one for a very good result, even if its less realistic ''per se''.

WIP of the shaman. Boar done, (missing some dust on the lower parts that i just remembered i have to do).

EDIT: i finished the goddamn shaman, Its seems as they scultped every possible trinket an orc shaman could have in a single model. Busiest pice of finecrap ive ever seen. The model is still nice though, but seriously id could have done with half the trinkets its carrying around.

Ugly light overall sorry.

I painted the last spider riders after 7 weeks off with the family. I did a quick paintjob on these, only 15 hours for all 5 as im almost done with my orc army now! missing some foot orcs, 3 characters and the FW spitting squig that im gonna paint also.

Good to hear there's some more stuff coming. The Boar Boys look great, I'm using the beasts to convert into some Razorgor. I'd never have the patience to paint the bits of fur one by one - its drybrush all the way for me, but I appreciate the effort you've put into these. It really shows. The white one is my favourite I think!
