Living Nehekaran Army

#1 Post by cidracin »

After reading Nagash the sorceror I have been wanting to play a Tomb King army that was composed of living soldiers from the different Nehekaran states. The problem is that I have no clue how I would model the army. Has anyone heard of a army like this. When do the new tombkings come out because maybe the new models would make conversions easier? I want to make a couple of units of chariots, some infantry and bowmen, calvary, a living catapult ,and I want to use the tomb guard rules to represent my kings Ushabti bodyguard. I think I would like my army to be maily composed of warriors of the Golden Host. Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated :D .

You should have a look at War Gods of Aegyptus, particularly the Asar line. They have several other lines of infantry, modeled after the different headed deities of ancient Egypt. They also have chariots, but not cavalry. The models are metal, and therefore a bit pricey.

Viking thanks for the advice but I want to take the models to the Grand Tournament when it returns next year and I believe that you must use GW models or mostly GW models. Does anyone know if this is the case? he models do look good though Viking.

If it is a GW tournament, then yes you need models based on GW components.

I'm not sure how to progress on a living nehekaran army, tomg kings shields on dark skinned marauders perhaps?
the catapult is a difficult prospect, but most of the rest i'd suggest a combination of marauders. bret peasants and the empire range. have a good look through the catalogues in your local GW, with a lot of research you'll probably find the bits you need.

As I recall, the Skull Catapult was also called Skull Catapult before the whole zomg Nagash plague thing happening :P So I should say the constructs like Ushabti, Scorpions, Bone Giants and Screaming Skull Catapults and Chariots can all be used without modification (although the crews do need some adaption).

For regular living men, Marauders are probably your best bet and I can recommend the Empire Wizard set for liche priests.

Egpyt used pikes still after Alexander died along with the chariots and so forth so you could possibly use some Dogs of war pikemen models and just use skeles with spear rules or something like that, bill them as levy pikemen etc..
