Mage conversion for a cheapskate

#1 Post by JNMGibbs »

As part of my PoorHammer project (http://poorhammer.blogspot.com) I'm making a 500 point list, followed by a 1000 point list for as cheap as possible. My 500 list is more or less done (I got the noble box set and a batallion, more than enough for this points limit).

For my 1000 points army I want a mounted mage, but I dont wanna go buy another character box set. Do you guys know of the best way I could convert a mounted noble (unassembled, the one in the prince/noble set) using bits from the batallion set?

Any help would be apprecited :D

Does the battalion have the bolt thrower sprue? if so there is an arm for the crew that has a scroll which could work in one arm and you could somehow convert a spear arm or banner arm and convert that into a staff/wand.

Yea, the batallion has the bolt thrower sprue.

Thanks, that sounds awesome :D There's also plenty of additions for head gear for the archers that I can use to make him look more magey, and the spear/wand conversion sounds good. Cheers :D

Plus the Archer torso, legs, and cape would work for his body.

The banner pole from the archer sprue, cut off at about staff length, topped with the eagle head from the archer horn, makes for a really great mage staff. One of my metal mages got his arm cut off to be replaced thusly.
