mmmm.... I don't think there is a specific colour scheme for each regions...
Cultural elements like plumets or decorations, yes, but specifics colours applied on each warrior in the same maner, I don't think...

For example, imagine a noble family of Caledor who have particular links with a "family" of purple, or golden dragons... Armour's colours of the dragon princes of this family shouldn't be the same that the others dragon princes (sorry for my english... ).

An other example: I have begining an Avelorn themed army with an autumn colour scheme based on reds, golds, withe and touches of green...
I see Avelorn like Lorien in the lord of the rings: each season have her part of beauty and majesty... inspiring by the powers of the everqueen as the personification of Isha...

I like to see the high elves at the automn of their existence, so I like see them red, fiery... with little touches of specifics colours for each regions. (I love the ancient colour scheme of the high elves, this of the former edition...).

The only limit is our imagination...
hoping that you will understand my poor english...

I think a colour scheme for each region would be cool but if you did a mixed HE army it would look crap with all the different colours. I reckon that a lava sorta colour as oppose to red makes sense for the DPas it 1.Looks a LOT better and 2. Makes more sense, kinda, as fire is orangey as oppose to red.

There, thats enough post for this morning.

High elves arn't Irish. They come from Atlantis.

True fact right there.

Oh I'd better say something about colours to make this relevant. Erm... Oh yeah! Anyone who paints their high elves white and blue should be burnt and added to the pile of dead ultramarines players. GET AN IMAGINATION!

I use blue and white. Do you have a better color scheme for an army from Saphery? Blue is my main color with white accents and under robes. It's how I've always seen an army from the White Tower and I'll continue to see it that way. I'm also very creative and I do have an imagination for your information.

Juza, I'm speechless. I know everybody says this, but your minis are amazing.

And btw, I always saw the HE like the Greek Nations, so my colour scheme is white as principal colour, in combination with light greys. And the distinctive colour I've choosed is purple and lavander(sp?). And is not a Nagarithean army. Sadly my painting skills sucks, but I'm improving my skills.

I don't think he's referring to Enchanted Blue, it seems to be readily available from Direct Sales. It might be this "lightning" he's talking about, I myself have a shade of blue labeled Storm Blue which haven't been available for few years now.

Enchanted blue is still very much available. It's one of GW's main colors. They're not going to discontinue it anytime soon without supplying a replacement. The color Shootyarmies was refering to was not enchanted blue, it's still available.

IMHO there really is no way that you can remove white from the HE pallette without some serious creativity with the fluff.

Not saying it couldn't be done, but white is a defining trademark of HE and traditionally the creativity lies in how you work round that, different combinations of trim and armour shades, different placing and shading of white. Certainly the GW standard can get pretty boring to say the least.

There's huge room for maneouvre there but if you're going to start painting them red and black for instance it's worthwhile coming up with some explanation as to why those elves are dressed so differently from others. The same would apply if you had warriors of Khorne wearing icy blue. It's not lack of imagination, it's simply following through that creativity with background to round the picture out.

I've not been collecting elves long (in fact I've only recently returned to the hobby) but I can imagine how such explanations may go. For instance you may have a group living within a heavily forested region who wore more camouflaged colours similar to wood elves, or maybe a band of embittered survivors of a DE massacre who have adopted blood red as a symbol of their quest for vengeance, maybe even using black in an attemp to pass themselves of as DE and infiltrate Naggaroth. Are there colours for regular elves directly attached to the royal court? They may tend towards richer colours when they take the field such as purples and golds.

Just a few thoughts :)

Nice idea there Lyneth.

I have managed to drop white from my high elf pallet and my colour scheme is a Dark Red with a Dark Grey. It looks nice but I have had to do some major fluff writing and I am still writing the fluff at the moment.

The entire project is for The Lost Guard of Tor Anroc and as I am writing the histories for it I did my own colour scheme.

Check out these pages for the histories so far:- http://toranroc.com/forums/elves/147-to ... ering.html
http://toranroc.com/forums/elves/355-to ... 2-3-a.html

And for the minis they are scattered around the site but most of them are either here: http://toranroc.com/forums/vbphotovote.php?do=myphotos;
or here: http://toranroc.com/forums/warhammer-fa ... guild.html

I am also doing a request thing which is basically due to the fact that I want personalized heroes but don't know what to do so I take peoples descriptions of their characters and then try to create a model to that specification. I then take pictures of them but I keep the models but if the guys want to buy them they can when I get a 'paypal' account up and running.

They have not been based as I am going to decide on a universal basing scheme for the entire army...

Ive painted my elveswith the white robes and instead of the blue I have red armour which is quite cool if you do it right with enough layering.

IMHO i think its a little like this

Averlorn: Bright Green (a forest colour during summer as they're in an eternal summer)

Caledor: Red (Firey colour, color of dragons and the pic of the DP on front of the current book.)

Chrace: Turquoise (Its a good color to be for a woodsman especially for trim)

Cothique: Sea Foam Green (a sea colour who-da-thunk?)

Eataine: I say blue or light blue like the ones in the book (They are the richest and would be able to supply and transport all those elves all over the world)

Ellyrion: Light Purple (Seems like a gracful color IMO)

Saphery: Dark Blue (Looks Magic)

Shadowlands: Grey (Still HE but mix with their DE heritage= grey)

Tiranoc: Black (a mourning color)

Yvresse: Yellow (since these are the HE paladins I'd say yellow fits nicley with them)

I did this colour scheme in the area of 5 years ago, but i thought that it turned out pretty well. I painted them enchanted blue and snot green, starting from dark angels and regal respectively.

Am going to repaint them and may keep the same colour scheme or do a new colour scheme, though i might just do a new scheme for my new army. Am thinking of incorporating either purple or orange into the colours somehow, what do u think?

Chrace: White (White Lions)
Cothique: Sea Green (a sea colour)
Eataine: Imperial Purple (shows wealth and power)
Ellyrion: Grey (Like grey horses)
Saphery: Dark Blue (colour of Magic)
Shadowlands: Black (Dark Reputation)
Tiranoc: Light Blue
Yvresse: Yellow

What do you think?
I honestly think that this suits all of the "legions". They are all what i imagine in my mind. Good job, we think the same :?
I agree with this colour schemes, i think that they suite each of the realms.

My army from nagarythe wears (very) dark red armor with a light gold trim for the characters and elites while the armor on the core spears is the light gold with the dark red trim. All scale is painted the light gold color.

The red is made from a reaper color that i can't remember the name of but then highlighted on the extreme ridges with mechrite red then washed with Gryphone sepia, Devlan mud and then baal red while the gold on the armor is a mithril base followed by a gryphone sepia wash and a devlan mud wash.

the robes on the models are charcoal in color. I start with chaos black then pretty much paint the whole area except by the edges of armor , belts, weapons ect.... with a mix of about %75 chaos black and %25 fortress grey to make my charcoal and highlight the extreme edges with adeptus battlegrey.

the trim on the bottom of mail skirts and other cloth that isn't black is painted with a base of khemri brown and highlighted with deneb stone.

gems are dark (almost black) green. this is done by basing them with un stirred orkshide shade then a line of mixed orkshide shade then a tiny line of snot green washed with badab black mixed with thraka green.

So...
Armor: Dark red laquered. gold trim
Robes: Black
Other cloth/ feathers: off white
Weapon shafts: black
Gems: Dark green

My list is based on what I find in the new Army Book. * mark completely my opinion and base loosely on the book info. All others are conjecture.

*Averlorn: Primary - Green; Secondary - White (No support in current publication.. Just my opinion)

Caledor: Primary - Blue; Secondary - Red-Orange (based from Tethlis Shield on pg 87)

Chrace: Primary - Red; Secondary - White (Based on Chrace Shield on pg 87)

*Cothique: Primary - Red; Secondary - Blue (Cavalry Banner on pg 86 IMO looks to fit the Cothique area.)

Ellyrion: Primary - White; Secondary - Blue (based on Reaver Shield on pg 87)

Saphery: Primary - Blue; Secondary - Yellow/White (based on Shields on pg87 and mages on pg 80)

Nagarythe: Primary - Black; Secondary - Blue/Yellow (based on Nagarythe Shield on pg 87)

*Tiranoc: Primary - Yellow; Secondary - Blue/White (based from the Chariot Banner on pg 84)

*Yvresse: Primary - White; Secondary - Royal Blue (Based on Eltharion the Grim Model)
