2250 PTS tourny army

#1 Post by Drake Mage »

the rules for the tourny are you can take special characters but you cant over do it eg. you can take tyrion but you cant take korhil and caradryan as well. heres my list:

teclis 475

noble 85
light armour 2
great eagle 50
reaver bow 40

mage 100
elven steed 12
lvl 2 35
annulian crystal 40

mage 100
lvl 2 35
ring of fury 40

15 spearelves 135
sentinal 10
musician 5
standard 10

10 maybe 15 archers 110-165

15 sea guard 180
sea master 10
musician 5
standard 10
shields 15

10 pheonix guard 150
keeper of flame 12
tali of loec 10
musucian 6
standard 10

10 pheonix guard 150
keeper of flame 12
tali of loec 10
musucian 6
standard 10

RBT 100

RBT100

great eagle 50

great eagle 50

total 2184 with 10 archers or 2239 with 15 archers

the basic tactics i was going to use was to use the pheonix guard and spear elves to block the troops and have the mages and bolt throwers and stuff to shoot them. the great eagles would be there to redirect enemies. the mage on the horse would have beast lore with beast cower to stop stegadon hopefully mage on foot would have high magic with at least shield of saphey to help protect the spear elves the sea guard and archers would be on a hill near the bolt throwers im not sure what lore to take with teclis im thinking of lore of fire if i went with 10 archers what should the other 66 be spent on? some of the armies i will be versing are chaos, orcs/gobs, lizzies but not sure what else

any help is appreciated

Don't post the individual upgrade costs. Makes it hard to read. For example:

15 spears, full command

is much easier to read. And to type!!

On the list ...

You probably need scrolls more than the Annulian Crystal. Teclis gives you a bunch of dispel dice anyway, but only one scroll.

You've got Teclis, so add the Banner of Sorcery. You've got nothing except the magic phase, make it as big as you can.

Decide what lore you take when you see the enemy army, not in advance. Lore of Beasts on the little Mage is a mistake. If you don't get Beast Cowers (and odds are you don't), he has nothing to do. He probably has no offensive affect with Teclis around anyway, but take a lore with a good default spell and he might do something. He is mainly there to improve your magic defense.

The noble needs dragon armour and a shield. Probably the Enchanted Shield.

Why do you have sea guard? Or why do you have the third core unit, whatever it might be?

All magic items are unique, so your second Phoenix Guard is illegal. But both units are kinda pointless as nearly anything can break them and even causing panic is easy.

Why do you have banners on everything? None of your units can fight so the banners are mostly just giving away 100 pts if they get broken. A banner to take Banner of Sorcery makes sense, but you probably want a beefier unit to carry it, or Dragon Princes for the mobility.

15 sea guard

This list looks better. Your spearman are min. and PG do not offer any major killing attacks. Please let us know how the noble on the eagle works.

I have seen the WE to this put a cheap noble on an eagle and go mage hunting. This eagle charged Teclis and lost to him. But he has killed other mages and sometimes he wound up as a spot on the ground.

In your list, I am worried about your lack of hammer units. A unit of 5 Dragon Princes(or even Silver Helms) Would do. Drop an eagle, some Seaguard, the mage's horse and the Talisman of Loec and you're good I think.
