2000pt HE - Anti-Lizard+more list!

#1 Post by guardian angel »

So, after several games against the new Lizardmen my current list is not cutting it. Therefore I have gone for a completly different list to try and get more success against them and other armies to!

The list I was playing before revolved around an archmage.

Anyhow, the proposed list:

LORD:
Prince+A of C+vambraces+amulet of light+halberd+star dragom=621

HEROES:
Mage+2 scrolls=140
Mage+sigil of asur=140

CORE:
10 Seaguard+shields+m=135
10 Seaguard+shields+m=135

SPECIAL:
6 Dragon Princes+FC+banner of arcane protect=255
Tiranoc chariot
Lion Chariot
6 Swordmasters+m=96

Rare:
2x RBT
Eagle

Total=1997

So what do you guys think? Areas for improvement?

Cheers 8)

What are you up against?

This list will work fine I guess:) but an AM list with pit of shades prolly would aswell ;) ... Depending on your enemy ofcourse...
Let's hear a bit more about the list proving tough for you:)

The guy I played last night had:

oldblood on carnosaur
skink on engine of the gods
C of JW scar vet
2x skink skirmishers
terradons
1 block of spear saurus
1 skink/krokigor unit
Chamelon skinks
Regular stegadon

And possibly other stuff I can't remember!

The problem was the 2 Stegadons and the carnosaur. The carnie he just screened with skirmishers and I couldn't do enough damage to the stegs or the carnie befire they reached me. Then it was all over! Was not pretty!!!!!

When casting pit of shades on a ridden monster (carnie/stegadon) which initative value is used?

Pit of Shades is largely useless against Lizardmen now. You cannot Pit the Slann inside a unit. Against Stegadons, you only get a partial hit and then you test on the skink initiative (see GW FAQ). The best lore against Lizardmen, like many armies, is Metal. Kill stegadon crew on 2s, wound the Ancient Stegadon on 5s. Lets you snipe the priest off the top from turn 1. Except Lizardmen often mount so much magic defense these days (6 dispel dice minimum, 8+ not uncommon, plus scrolls), that doesn't work reliably.

2 Stegadons is killable, or should be. A little shooting damage and a charge of Dragon Princes has a legit chance of taking out the beast. A charge of Swordmasters or White Lions could too, but those are harder to arrange.

Scaly skin is just armour under a different name. It can't be destroyed though.
