New Sylvaneth

#1 Post by Duranthalis »

GW just announced the new Sylvaneth (forest spirit) line for AoS, including Alarielle the Everqueen.

I must say, she looks pretty impressive, especially on her war beetle. Don't know that I'll drop $130 on her, though, as it would probably sit in the box on the shelf with the rest of the stuff I have left to assemble and paint. The new Drycha looks like a hybrid between the treeman and the old Drycha. The paintjob they show makes her mouth look like the Joker (imo). The branchwych is them finally putting out a branchwraith model. :/

They also have the Kurnoth hunters ... which are neat looking. Would definitely love to get my hands on some of the bits (namely, the spite carrying the arrows on its back).

Lastly is the tree revenant/spite revenant, which looks to be the new dual kit for rank and file troops.

Overall, I'm uninspired. These are all things that should have been released with 8th edition when they had the big push for wood elves for all of one month. However, I may still wind up picking up a branchwych or 2 to use as branchwraiths for my woodies.
PLOG here!

There's even a Dreadnaught

Alarielle herself is a big improvement over the previous drag-queen I think (despite the amount of superfluous details) but the beetle?

It looks like Alarielle hasn't been skipping the leg day.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who spotted the similarity.

Not too sold on the Alarielle model. Could be the painting of course. But the model looks more fit for a TK army then an elf one (and yes, I know TK are dead officially...).

As for the beetle, don't like it. Looks silly.

Alarielle and the beetle individually are pretty decent, but the whole "parade float" look is IMO just silly. Given they've done that with the Orruk monster as well I hope it isn't a trend.
