The birds lay down and bowed their heads
The other creatures followed suit.
All around them the air went dead,
All bar the sound of a single lute.

The lights extinguished left them in dark
As a single voice raised up in mourn
As pure as the call of a lothern lark
His song was that of an elf forlorn.

And then, again another started
A girl this time, just come of age.
And then, near the back the crowds parted
Another voice, this time a sage.

And very soon, all around the glade
Veilled in darkness as it was
Each instrument owned a song it played
And voices sung a song of loss.

The pyre, ahead, built up with fern
and sticks from the sacred grey-ash tree
And salves applied to help them burn,
A sacred scent, a sight to see.

And then brought to the sacred glade
A bundle made from linen pure
And decorated in many a shade
Colourful and yet, demure.

Inside this wrapping lay our lord
Eldacar, our guiding light
For whom the maidens wine had poured
For who the elven army fight.

They lay him still, upon the pyre
And bring torches made of gold
And light beneath a roaring fire
A flame at once both hot and cold.

And with this act, this sacred claim
The voices stop - the lute falls dead.
At feet it starts, engulfing flame
Down from his toes clear to his head.

Within seconds, no time to think
The flame is over, the fire ended.
And again, before you could blink
The pyre is back, its sticks are mended.

And then, a wind, a gentle gale
That on the cheeks of elves; caress
Did lift on up the ashes, pale
Did carry them without a mess.

And to the west the wind did blow
Carrying with it Eldacar
Good luck, farewell, you gave a show!
Keep going on, it wont be far!

Sweet Valimar, the white light place
Is where you go to spend your days
Get yourself there, make good pace!
Your memory, with us it stays.

"We are the chosen of Asuryan, beloved of the gods and heirs to the world. Our armies are the finest in creation; swift where our foes are lumbering, cultured where they are barbaric. Give no thought to failure, nor defeat – we are the Children of Ulthuan and we shall prevail."
