Enzo a Tilean Merchant

#1 Post by Ar-Earandur »

Enzo found himself lying on a beach. He did not know for how long he had been lying there, but he felt very cold. As he stumbled to his feet he saw that he was standing on a small beach. The sand was white and fine grained. The morning sun was shining; all in all this new day bore very little similarity with the previous one.

Enzo had been onboard a merchant ship sailing from Tilea to Ulthuan. They where planning to trade in the bazaars of Lothern, but the storm had put an end to that. They had sailed for nigh on one and a half week when they entered the mists. As soon as they had entered the mists everything had started going wrong; their compass had begun spinning wildly, all wind had disappeared and at last when the mists had lifted they had been surprised by a storm the like of which Enzo had never seen.

Enzo couldn?t see any other survivors from his ship; in fact he couldn?t see a living thing. Above however, sharp eyes where studying him; high above an Eagle soared. It was an Eagle the like of which where seldom seen by mortal men. Enzo oblivious to the sharp eyes watching him decided to move inland in search of some kind of settlement. As Enzo moved away from the beach the Eagle soared of?

Enzo had walked for several hours when he saw the first sign of civilization; a paved road crossed his path. In fact Enzo had passed several buildings on his way, but Enzo had not seen any of the cleverly hidden Elven towers, he however had been seen by many.

As Enzo reached the road he was meet by a mounted elf. The elf did not utter a word; instead he motioned for Enzo to mount another steed standing a few yards away. If he hadn?t been so hungry Enzo might have questioned this, but as it was all he could think of was pasta?.

Enzo had never seen any steed move as fast as these two did in his entire life. It was like if they where flying along the paved road. They passed Elven halls, farms and monuments. It was a beautiful place Enzo had come to. In front of him he could see the white walls of a city approaching fast?

Enzo was amazed at the beauty surrounding him as he was led through the Palace. Elven Guards clad in flawless armour, wonderful tapestries and paintings, statues which would make the most arrogant Tilean merchant Prince glow with envy. The elf did not seem to care though as he borderline pushed Enzo through the palace.

Finally Enzo stood before a great door. It opened slowly and Enzo was let inside escorted by several Elves in perfect Mithril armour. ?Greetings Enzo the Explorer. A voice Enzo had never heard before said. ?I am Earandur, King of this realm, I welcome you to my realm, if you are pure of heart that is. The elf speaking smiled at Enzo; it was a warm smile, but it promised nothing. ?So Enzo, tell me about yourself?

Enzo felt warm now. He was sitting in a large oval room. In front of him were the remains of a rather luxurious meal. Enzo leant back. He wondered what would happen to him. He had spoken to this Elven Lord for several hours, before he had been led to this chamber. He had been brought food and wine and anything else he could desire, but he had not been given any explanation. Right now the questions ran amok inside his head, but he felt sure of one thing; he was safe now.

Outside on the balcony a mild wind was blowing. It felt soft on his skin, almost comforting. He could see the entire city from here. It was a beautiful city, built from white marble the buildings was constructed by the finest Elven Architects; simply stunning Enzo thought?

Enzo felt good when he woke up the next day. He didn?t worry any more, still felt curious though. As he got out of bed he noticed that his clothes had been taken away, instead he found some well made but simple Elven clothes. The clothes fitted perfectly and proved quite comfortable to wear. He also noticed a medallion hanging there. It had not been there before. Probably a gift Enzo thought and grabbed it. It was star shaped.

The moment Enzo touched the medallion the door opened and the elf that had questioned him the previous day entered. ?About time you got up. He said. Enzo looked at him. ?That Medallion is yours by the way. ?Thank you sire. Enzo replied. ?Earandur will do for now. The elf smiled. It was a much warmer smile this time; it had no suspicions to it this time?

It was early in the morning. Enzo stood on an Elven ship. It would take him back to the Old World; around his neck the Medallion was glowing. He noticed that all the crew of the ship had similar medallions around their necks as well. He remembered his conversation with Earandur a couple of weeks ago. He had told him that the Medallion would protect him and lead him, that if he ever gave it away or sold it he would suffer a horrible death. Enzo shuddered, he dared not think about such things?

each paragraph begins with "Enzo this" or "Eventually Enzo that" ... have you done that on purpose ?although it sometimes sounds cool in some poem, story it looks weird in this short story.

I am a little sorry about that actually. It is just the way the story panned out. I tried to change it in the later parts of the story though. Not sure it helped though :D
