Court of the Phoenix king idea?
Hey all,
I had a thought on this the other night, I'm not sure if it would be something people are up for, but I was thinking about having a thread (monthly, perhaps) where we discuss a topic in the character of our general, as if we were all members of the phoenix king's court. (if you have one all fluffed-up that is ) Stuff like opinions on how to deal with the cults of pleasure, best ways to repair relations with the dwarves (idk, these are just quick examples...) that sort of thing.
Just wanted to check the interest in this sort of roleplaying thread.
Thanks!

Re: Court of the Phoenix king idea?
Sounds like immense fun, also who the hell are you...?!?
;3
I'd be up for it, we could have a nominated Phoenix King at the end of the season, drawn about of how well he performs in the Court.
And then on he could act as Chamberlain.

Definitely interested. Lord Deral himself is busy in the north, but that doesn't mean he can't send a cousing or a younger brother to attend in his place.

This does sound fun and Altatar who bears the birthmark of Saphery on his chin is eager to step into the courts to shape the policies that is needed to slay the foes of Ulthuan and reforge old alliances for the last dieing gasp of this world against Chaos.

Re: Court of the Phoenix king idea?
Perhaps a role call for each Kingdom..?
That way all of Ulthuan is represented..
Me=Cothique
Altatar=Saphery
Mentheus=Caledor
Lord Deral's younger cousing (cousin?) or brother=The Aethyr??
We need;
Eataine
Yvresse
Tiranoc
Avelorn
Chrace
Ellyrion
Nagarythe
Colonies, assorted... (perhaps )

Yes, that would be best, I think. But we still need more people, obviously
I wonder if Ele/Eli would be interested?

Re: Court of the Phoenix king idea?
Nice idea. Without Saphery option, I could perhaps send some relatives from Nagarythe or Lady Ilweran for Avelorn. Or Captain Airenar of the Phoenix Guard and use only smiley faces in my messages to the Court.

Re: Court of the Phoenix king idea?
I think Asuryan might have something to say about that...
I can't see a reason why we can't have more people from one province than another. Personally I'd rather have more people than have every kingdom represented equally.

Re: Court of the Phoenix king idea?
Wasn't there a piece of fluff floating about somewhere that the Phoenix Guard CAN talk, but not about the future?

Re: Court of the Phoenix king idea?
How are they supposed to talk with no tongue? I thought they cut out their tongues? Only Caradryan talks if he dies and thats fairly deadly to who he is talking to so i would not want a debate with a Phoenix Guard. He says something and i explode!

I'm fairly sure it was only a magical bound, not literal tongue cutting. I think

Re: Court of the Phoenix king idea?
I am quite sure they do not cut their tongues and they do not speak at all. At least in current fluff. Sometimes they use sign language. The idea of them being able to speak about past is interesting though. But accurate record of the past can define the future as much as foreknowledge.
Re: Court of the Phoenix king idea?
This sounds very, very intriguing.

Looks like it is off season, though. Or hunting season. Everyone's in Chrace chasing after terrible monsters to break up the boredom of constant intrique or something...

We're plenty civilized, I think the word you're looking for is "sensible", as in "Silly elves of the sensible realms"

Sensible - capable of being perceived by the senses; material: the sensible realm?

I'm sure there're puns to be made, but as English isn't my native tongue and as I am too busy fighting nightmarish monsters, I'm going to pass on making them

Re: Court of the Phoenix king idea?
Nor mine... Good hunt then. I am too busy weaving alternate realities just now (Saphery doesn't seem to be sensible realm in any of its meanings ). But I suppose Laicamir is in for Tiranoc, the cradle of intrique.
Re: Court of the Phoenix king idea?
Innnnteresting...
What I would probably suggest is having one official representative from each of the kingdoms except Nagarythe (the Shadow Warriors tend to keep out of politics and, well, Asur society in general). However, there's no reason why people couldn't RP as a prince from a province that is already represented - given how complicated Ulthuan's politics are supposed to be, I'm sure there are members of court who are there to represent special interest groups or simply their own house rather than being there as their province's spokeself. If that results in some provinces being represented more than others, than to be honest it's probably not a totally inaccurate representation of the relative influence of that province - I'd expect Eataine, Caledor, Avelorn and Saphery to naturally exert more influence than the other kingdoms. Multiple representatives per kingdom would also allow for multiple opinions from that kingdom - for instance, one Sapherian might be in favour of teaching as much magic as is practical to Ulthuan's allies among the human kingdoms, while another might continue to hold Finreir's initial attitude that magic taught to humans is all too likely to end up being used against the Asur in the future and that it might already have been given too generously.
