The usher stops midway up the stairs and points to your row, smiling politely. You shuffle past several theater-goers, and finally settle down in your lavishly padded seat. The grand chandelier overhead emits a dim glow, and it is by this light that you begin to examine the intricate lettering of the playbill handed to you on the way in.

Playbill
Days of Madness
Act One: Dance of the Märchenkönig

Synopsis:
The Kingdom of Bavaria, 1869. King Ludwig II of Bavaria, a young ruler less than a decade into his reign, is beloved by his people. His eccentricity and infatuation with the arts have charmed his subjects and earned him the affectionate nickname “der Märchenkönig”—“the Fairytale King.”
But there is a darker, much more dangerous side to Ludwig’s reign. Though few know it, the king is slipping deeper and deeper into insanity. He cares little for the political welfare of his kingdom, instead obsessing himself with a fantasy world of his own creation. He throws extravagant parties and builds one lavish castle after another, and mercilessly executes anyone who dares try to return him to reality.
Soon his kingdom will come crashing down around him, and only a precious few see it coming. This motley assortment of conspirators, drawn from all levels of the court, knows that the only way to stop the Mad King is to remove him from power—permanently. Will the conspirators stop Ludwig in time to save Bavaria, or will his madness destroy the kingdom? Let the Dance of the Märchenkönig begin!

Right, summer is just about here, and classes are wrapping up for most of us, so I’m kicking this thing off at long last. For those of you who may not have seen my original proposal thread for this RP, here’s the basic idea:

Set in 19th century Bavaria, this RP revolves around a motley group of Bavarians trying to dethrone the dangerously insane King Ludwig II. Think Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar set in pre-unification Germany, and you’ve got the idea. It's vaguely based on historical events, but ventures heavily into anachronisms, fiction, and alternate historical timelines. This isn't action- or adventure-heavy, but you can expect lots of politicking, intrigue, eccentricity, and funny German stereotypes. It uses an adapted version of the SPAM system, and will have a highly-structured game event system. This will be the first of three "acts" comprising a larger RP story arc, and relative success in this one will guarantee you a spot in the next act.

Please be aware that while this won’t require a huge amount of time from you at any given point, the RP will virtually require that you participate almost every day, and it’ll definitely benefit from consistent player involvement.

So if you’re interested, please reply here. I’ll be taking five players, but it’s not necessarily on a first-come, first-serve basis. If more than five of you want to participate, I’ll probably decide who gets in by judging your RP experience and/or just dicing off :P.

We’ll wait until the players are decided for character assignments and detailed game mechanics explanations.

Now get to signing up! Schnell, schnell!

Due to the amount of work I have at Georgetown University I have been away from this forum for a long time. However, now that summer is here I am free to visit once again for RPGs.

If there is still room I would like to join.

Also, this probably doesn't belong here, but when did post counts get reset?

Wow, long time no see Kojira! Yep, there's still room, and I'll be posting some character information soon so we can get this thing rolling :) .

Oh, and post counts got reset about a year ago at the end of the last site campaign. Due to some hosting issues or something, we had to revamp the site. Actually, come to think of it I forget what the exact problems were...anyways, we're still here and going strong :D .
