"You're right," Jia Lin said, slightly surprised that she had agreed with Zhuang on something, and that Zhuang had asked a question to her which had nothing to do with hitting on her! "Captain!" she called, and explained the circumstances to him, entrusting him with returning the dragon moose safely.

The colonel nodded as it was explained. Before long you were all mounted on the new Mongoose Dragons and riding forth. For Jia Lin the ride went smoothly, mostly. While Vaan and Zhuang both fell early. As the fortress was left behind everyone got the hang of riding the creatures, till they closed in on the capital in which both Jia Lin's and Vaan's creatures became to unruly and threw them. It was with bruised, egos, that you came across the first patrol out of the Capital. After some discussion between Jia Lin and the patrol, at a more leisurely pace you were escorted you, the Royal Caldera the only part visible to you at this stage. Eventually you came to the Harbour City. The Royal Plaza stretching out to the east while the climb to the Royal Caldera to the west. Having been relieved of your mounts, an attendant eventually escorted you to a small house in which you could recuperate while matters were organised.

Finding a nice, comfortable chair, Vaan limped over to it and sat himself down, stifling a groan. "Can we not do that again any time soon?" he asked plaintively, wincing at one twinge in particular. "I hurt in places that I didn't know existed."

"Think of it as a learning experience," Jia Lin groaned, feeling no more comfortable than the others. "We need to plan our next step. I think we should consult the Fire Sages."

Rubbing his sore muscles, Zhuàng smiled "At least we were on land. I'll take a mongoose dragon over a ship or an airship anyday". Flexing and stretching, the earthbender looked around for something to eat "Would you two object to discussing our next move over a warm meal and some drinks?"

"Fire Sages sound fine to me," Vaan nodded, preoccupied with the soreness in his muscles. "This is your home, Jia, so you can do it your way."

A brief rap at the door puts such thoughts aside for the moment. At the door can be found a young man dressed in plain but quality cloth. His hair tied into a top knot. In his arms several scrolls are bound with what Jia Lin can see are official seals. "Greetings," he says with a smile but a rather put upon tone.

From the pile of scrolls, he withdraws and opens one. "I believe I am in the presence of one Jia Lin of the Fire Nation, Zhuang of the Earth Kingdom and Vaan of the Southern Water Tribe?" He looks over the scroll at the three of you.

Looking from the secretary to Vaan to Jia Lin, Zhuàng was growing bored "And how, pray tell, were you going to stop us?". He was hungry, thirsty and tired and didn't like this uppity bureaucrat at all.

Jia Lin sighed. Why must Zhuang aggravate others so? "The man is just trying to do his job. Don't upset him," she said. "Sir, we wish to go to the Fire Sages, and after to Ba Sing Se. The purpose of our visits, you may record as... hmm... spiritual matters." That sounded like the sort of thing bureaucrats liked on their paperwork, and it wasn't exactly a lie either.

It was with relief that the Secretary turned to Jia Lin, finally a kindred spirit in the world of paperwork. "Thank you madam." With a rapid flourish he produced 3 scrolls, banging down a seal onto each before retrieving a small fan from some recess to dry the ink. "This will get you access to the Harbour or to leave town should you seek civilian egress." With practice ease he slipped the papers across. "Good day to you." In a flash of cloth and paper he was gone.

Harbour City is a bustling hive of activity compared to the small village you had previously experienced. Predominately industrial, it is clear that this is where those of lower means live and work, Jia Lin's police training on edge as you make your way through the streets.Several times you become disorientated and lost due to nobodies familiarity with the City, but eventually make your way to the Fire Sages Temple. A small wall surrounds the five storey Pagoda. Young Monks busy themselves out front, sweeping the courtyard.

Zhuàng looked at the young firebenders at work and then at the temple. It was an impressive structure, especially if it was built without earthbending. Grabbing a passing monk by the arm, he asked in a friendly way "We're here to see the Sages, can you take us to them?"

Leaning slightly on his broom, the young monk looked Zhuang up and down. With a nod, he turned, waving for you all to follow. Into the temple you are lead, incense hanging lightly in the air, the interior rather austere. Eventually you are lead to an audience chamber where a Fire Sage sits stroking his brown chin beard, looking down upon a scroll.

With mild surprise the Sage looked up at the motley group. "How may this one bring wisdom to your day?" His eye brows raised questioningly. With a slight wave of his right hand he sent the young monk away.

Jia Lin bowed as well to the Fire Sage. She had expected that Vaan would take the lead, as he was the expert on spiritual matters, but the others seemed to defer to her. Succinctly, she told the Sage of the group's experience with Lei Shan, making sure to report what the spirit had said to them.

At first he stood impassively listening, slowly as the tale unfolded, fascination gripped him. "This is great news! No others managed to speak with Lei Shen when he attacked the Airships here at the Capital. This motivation for the attacks must be sent to the Avatar at once." He scrambled across the desk for a piece of paper. "Will you be taking this information to the Avatar yourselves?"
