Naggarond Trial (signup thread)

#1 Post by EricJ »

Greetings all.

This is a sign-up thread for Naggarond Trial, a game that like a previous hit of mine, Druchii Among Us, is a Warhammer-take on an old classic game. And just like in DAU, the interaction between the players is critical to their success.

The game is set in the dark tower of Naggarond, Tower of Cold, the seat of the Witch King. You play the role of an unfortunate Asur prisoner that, together with seven other prisoners must employ all your tactical cunning to escape from the deadly clutches of the Witch Kings most feared persecutor: me.

The life of a pitiful Asur like yourself is usually short in proper Druchii company, but for the amusement of the nobles the Witch King has decreed that a game, err, "Trial" be held to affirm your guilt. You all stand accused of a series of petty crimes, all of which obviously carries the penalty of death. The following are the rules of the trial:
  • The trial is played once a day, five days a week, (monday to friday) for three weeks. If you can't play, don't sign up. If you miss a day, your silence is taken as a "not guilty"-testimony, more on that later.
  • Every day monday to friday is a new hearing session where the judge, persecutor and jury (me, me and me) will hear your testimony against your co-player. You may testify that your co-player is either guilty or not guilty. That is all.
  • Testimonies of guilt/innocence will be evaluated in accordance with what your co-player for the round says about you.
    1. If you both testify not guilty, you're both awarded 3 points each.
    2. If you both testify guilty, you're both awarded 1 point each.
    3. If you testify guilty but your co-player testifies not guilty, you are awarded 5 points and your co-player receives nothing.
  • Testimonies shall be delivered to me daily, every day monday to friday for the duration of the game. You testify by writing me a PM with either guilty or not guilty, preferrably with the day-of-week, in the message subject and/or body. Example:
    Image
  • Each day, I will post the pledges of the week along with a score update. This will be your primary source of information, since you will be able to find out what your co-player is saying about you. Prisoners are advised to make the most of this information in order to maximize his or her score.
  • At the end of each week, the two players with the lowest accumulated score will be axed. As you will find, your fellow inmate for the week will be both your best ally and worst enemy. The winners will be the two prisoners left alive after the third week!
  • Strategy talk between players is obviously not allowed. Feel free to comment the game (gloat etc) otherwise, though.
Any takers?

I'll be watching from the sideline, and if EricJ allows it, make RP comments from the Naggarothi crowd who cheers at your deaths. ;)

Pretty much, yeah.

Much appreciated.

Since we're set to go, I'll post the game thread this weekend and introduce you to your co-players for the next week. See you all in court!

the two players with the lowest accumulated score will be axed.
The two individuals with the lowest score, or the lowest pair's combined score? If it's the former, then presumably the two surviving co-players form a new team?

It's the former. Teams aren't axed, players are. I haven't quite decided how teams will be put together before each week, if the remnants from two axed teams form a new one or if all players are randomly distributed into teams from week to week. Right now, I'm thinking that the last alternative looks the most difficult to play, and hence the most interesting as well.

It certainly makes it harder to form an unspoken strategy if the teams get mixed up each round :)

My thoughts exactly. You still have access to his history though, so you're not completely in the dark.

Remember, deadline for testimony submissions is monday evening.
