Dear friends, fellow Ulthuanites (yes, it's an official word from now on), I thank you for the trust you have shown me and Prince_Asuryan and the patience that you have portrayed so far, it does each and every one of you honor. Unfortunately, I do not think that I can pick up the story that Calarion has so skillfully woven in a satisfactory manner. No, don't stop reading just yet! I have a positive message in a minute. Calarion is an exceptional GM, very adaptable to change and unforeseeable events and I have had a lot of fun playing under him for the limited time I have, it has taught me a lot. Unfortunately, I do not think that anyone other than he himself or someone who has been with the RP from the start would be able to salvage this particular RP from its current situation. I certainly lack the experience to do so. However, I was so inspired by the Pendragon setting and rule system that I started my own campaign on my personal website, and as real-life events have claimed two of my players (non-lethally, thankfully) I would like to expand an open invitation to all of you who are interested in continuing the RP under my humble leadership. The adventure starts from the very beginnings, but I intend to add some of my own flavor to it. However, I am a novice GM nowhere near the level of Calarion. You can however still retain your characters, but I would you ask for the sake of balancing to consult with me on Skype at petri_lautjarvi about them, should you wish to join this humble adventure.

I thank you all for your trust in me and I apologise for not being able to live up to it

Luna, try not to beat them too hard. They are proud about their pseudo-glorious past and their present nothingness, you know.

Sad to see this finally being declared dead but for some reason I'm not as sad as I'd thought I'd be. Its probably because we had such a fantastic run everyone  I already made an overly long goodbye post before Luna's revival attempt so I won;t be making another one of those. So thanks again for all the great memories guys I'll always remember them fondly :)

I was wondering whether Cal could answer my questions now? Cal if you see this I'd love to know so post or PM me if you see this.
Thanks so much :D

Also Luna I'll have to pass on joing your RP as real life is looking to be too busy for me to be suitably active in RP. Thanks for trying to get this old girl back on her feet though =D>
cidracin wrote:With my overly long thank yous out of the way I figured I'd put my questions in a seperate post.

1. What rally happened with Aldrydd and where was the witch plot supposed to go? Was Aldyrdd quasi alive? WHat was that damned witch's goal????? I hope you haven't forgotton as waiting to find out the answer has literally been a dream of mine for like 2 years. Also Aldrydd's death always gives me chills when I read it you made it that creepy so props as a writer and GM. The sweet moments with Elodie before it just make the horror even greater.

2. What was Aaron/the Black Knights goal?? As an aside Aaron was my least fav PC I created as he was bland due to my own fault. Owen and Aldrydd were much more compelling and fun to play.

3. How were you going to approach Owen's attempt to revive Kara?? Would it actually have been like Greek classics with a trip to hell/ the underworld like Orpheus did?

I'd love as much answers as you willing to give as these were all questions I was looking forward to discovering the answers to, unsuprisingly since they are the key points to my PC's characters lives and deaths in some cases! I always hoped that OBSM would end after Owen had got Kara back so one of my characters could end on a happy note, unlike death by witch and zombie. Hopefully a happy note was in Owen's future. That being said I think Owen and Kara's rommance was a great one in the tragic sense. Her choice to fight and subsequentlly die sword in hand against a king was one of my fav moments. Also liked Owen's development into the Kingkiller :D I liked how Owen kept killing everybody he met including some really important figures to John's anoyance :D

Some questions for you Luna,
Can i join your RP?
Does it have to be on a different website? (i forget passwords as sure as buttered toast lands downwards, i mean it took me 3 days to remember my password to Ulthuan and no i can't remember password to e-mail either so couldn't recover it, yeah).
Is it Warhammer set?
What rules sets are you going to use for it? (like determining combat or speech checks etc).

Sad to see this RP die, i tried to start reading from the start back when it was ONLY 50 pages long and gave up after 3 pages (not due to quality but due to time restraints).

Thanks! xx

A month later, let's see if I can answer those questions :p I hope you're still around to see them!

1) Aldrydd's soul had been claimed by the witch. His spirit was her slave. The witch was a type of elder faerie - the same sort of being as Grendel's mother. It was bound to the Chute Forest, but when Uther died, the boundaries between Faerie and the real world started slipping - and the imprisonment started slipping too. The witch was going to try and free herself and get revenge on the Faerie lord who imprisoned her.

2) Aaron had no particular goals apart from smacking Saxons around, but he would have come back for a Ghost Knight vs Zombie Knight throwdown. No detailed plans there.

3) Owen could have gone to the Underworld to get Kara. There were two catches: firstly, the only person who could have helped him was the witch (and no one was around who knew about Aldrydd and the witch!) - this would have been a major plot point in wrapping up the witch's storyline. Secondly, Kara was dead for some time, and she belonged in the underworld. The only happy resolution would have been Owen getting closure before Kara returned to the underworld. I definitely intended to give Owen a happy ending after that, the nature of which would have depended on what was going on at the time.

Don't let it be forgot
That once there was a spot
For one brief shining moment
That was known as Camelot."

People who liked OBSM might be interested...

I started another Great Pendragon Camapign with my real-life Pendragon group. It has the less-awesome-than-this-one name of The Blaze in the Dark. It's now updated with everything we've done so far on it. It's been quite similar to this game in ways, and very very different in others.

Come have a look!
