Victor was much pleased when Ferzo ordered the wizard to turn the light smaller, as he felt much more confident while in the dark.
During the short walk in the sewers, Victor could sense that everything was not fine with Ferzo, he seemed a bit nervous.
But the sound of the opening door distracted him from his thoughts, and he quickly got low and hid his presence. He then noticed that Ferzo had done the same.
Victor had no intention of moving or giving out their position to the voices around the corner.
Then the halfling seemed to snap and of some reason ran out shouting something obscene about being a king.
Had Victor had less self control he would have face palmed and cursed the halfing in voice, but he settled in cursing him silently.

Now they had only one option: to wait and see how fast the halfing would be slaughtered or would run back around the corner where th others waited.
Victor thought where he could do the most damage. The other voice sounded as coming from a big person, the other apparently a bit smaller. He also though how could he surprise them to get to strike as he best liked: silently and unexpected.
He decided that he would wait until the propable fight would break out, and then jump to the other side of the manure river and try to sneak behind the people around the corner.

Victor will wait silently and see how the situation advances, and if a fight breaks out, he will use the chaos for his advantege and try to jump to the other side of the river and sneak behind the two people using (subtlety 2[6])

Gustav passes his Lie test and manages to convince Borgo and the boss he's actually king of The Moot.

Borgo blinked, looked at the Halfling, looked at his boss, then looked at the Halfling again. Putting a large hand under his tunic to scratch a hairy stomach, he was visibly very confused about the situation.

“Now…” he mumbled, uncertain. “I still think it weird to see little man down here…but he says he’s king, boss.”
The yellow and purple-dressed man with the oily voice also seemed confused, though in a manner much more elegant. He moved up next to Borgo and began stroking his moustache with long, pale fingers.

“It is true that I have never heard about the king of The Moot, and that is why your story is likely to be true…yet you are far from your own lands, Halfling.” The man’s voice was filled with a cautious respect now, not sarcasm. “A king should not travel alone in this place. It is...dangerous. Seldomly do you find anyone with good intentions in the Sewers.” The man stepped forward, and pointed at Gustav. “You saw and heard what we did, king. Your noble blood can surely help you in this world, but now it seems to be worth little here.”

Borgo blinked, and looked down on his employer. “But he’s king, boss! We can’t kill that!” The boss looked back at Borgo, with a slight, evil, grin. “I never said we had to kill him, Borgo. We will discuss what a king of The Moot can do for us. But not here.”

The boss poked his golden stick at Borgo, and pointed at the halfling. “He’s coming with us,” he said, and looked at Gustav. “Now either you follow us in a civilized manner, and I will have you dressed up in proper clothes and present you as a king to all of my friends…or I will have Borgo here pick you up and lock you in till I know what I should do with you. What will it be, Halfling king?”

The huge man still looked very confused about the situation and was in great doubt about threatening a king, but nevertheless took a step closer to Gustav in case the Halfling would decide not to cooperate. After all, it wasn’t every day he would be able to carry a king around.

Norau listened intently to the conversation going on around the corner. The choice was left with the halfling, and the man of the north sincerely hoped he would see the tactical advantage of the group being right behind the corner. The halfling had proven to be swift on earlier occasions, he could be around the corner well before they would be, and then Norau could make a lasting impression in the huge being who he'd normally would struggle with. The element of surprise combined with a numerical advantage would make it easy to overcome the opponents.

To the others he came over as perfectly calm as he leaned against the wall, carefully examining the axe in his hands and thinking of an estimate to strike at. The initiative was with the Gustav right now, and worrying was for those not confident in their own abilities in a situation. Norau was confident that between the group and those two they would come out as the superior, and that he would definitely survive the encounter.

His face turning into a smugly confident expression, the halfling smiled at the big man who was looking as happy as a hobbit on Harvest Day and directed his words to the boss.

"Splendid, splendid. However, I can't really leave my personal effects behind - I have it stashed a little bit back in the sewer. All in all it's rather heavy you see but it was a parting gift from the friend of mine who helped me in here and I'd be loath to leave it all in a place which is beneath it... well most of it, anyway."

Gustav pointed behind him.

"Perhaps you can help me carry it, laddy? It's just a bit in the water but not very far."

Gustav tries to lure the two men to the group whilst keeping enough of a distance that he can run if any fighting breaks out (socialising 2,5 and sprint 2,5). If either of the two men try to impair his personal space and/or freedom he'll try to make a break for it through the door using Sprint and if he can get away, taunt the two in following him with "You'll never take me alive!" or somesuch.

Adriana got low along with the others in an attempt to stay as discreet as possible, feeling a chill run up her spine as the two monsters around the corner spoke about what they'd done, and why they were in the sewers. As the bodies slowly floated by her, she had to quickly cover her own mouth to muffle a horrified gasp before turning her head away in the other direction. It was by far the most gruesome and disgusting scene that she'd ever seen or even dreamed of, one that would surely haunt her dreams for a very long time, assuming she lived that long. Barely able to contain her anger, her hands had already balled up into tight fists, and it took every inch of her self control to suppress the tears building up inside of her eyes. She wasn’t naïve enough to think that the world was fair or that people weren’t capable of extremely heinous acts, but seeing it first hand was completely different than anything else, and the reality that such a thing could happen to even innocent children was just unbearable to her.

Thankfully, the Halfling’s antics were distracting enough to pull her mind away from such thoughts and back to the situation at hand, not that it was a huge improvement. Before she could do anything, Norau was already shoving Gustav’s bag into her arms, so it seemed that the decision had been made for her, which was fine. Despite the incredible amount of hatred that she felt for the vile murderers that the group was about to face, she had to face the fact that given her size and lack of serious combat training, she would just be getting in the way of the group’s more dangerous members. Following behind Cerin, as instructed by Norau, the closest thing that she had to a friend at the moment, Adriana couldn’t do much more than wait for the apparently imminent skirmish to begin.

If and when a fight breaks loose, Adriana will attempt to discreetly slip around the melee and get to the door (Subtlety, 2[6]), scouting out the other side in order to gather any useful information that she can.

Borgo the Brute

Gustav does not make the boss believe in another lie, and is forced to run. He manages to sprint from Borgo, past Norau, and ends up at the end of the group.

Norau attacks :
6 A ; 1 hit ; 1 wound.
Borgo attacks back: 2 hits; 2 wounds.
Matthias: 3 A; 0 hits; 0 wounds.

Borgo:
1 disarm attack: fails.
3 attacks (all on Norau): 0 hits.
Norau: Fails miserably, Borgo seizes the opportunity but doesn’t manage to hurt Norau from it.

The boss runs off, and manages to slam the door shut.

Adriana does not manage to follow.

Victor successfully leaps across the river on his right side, getting to the other sidewalk and sneaking up so he’s lined parallel to where Borgo’s standing.

“Oh no, we’re not falling for that. Borgo, seize him!” the boss yelled, pointing at Gustav. Despite his loyalty, it took Borgo a moment to bring himself to charge at the Halfling king, and Gustav used it to start sprinting back towards the others, screaming “You’ll never take me alive!” Just as Norau heard this, he stepped forth from the corner, swinging his axe at the charging brute. Though big and clumsy, the giant man came to an abrupt halt when he saw the blade. “Ambush boss!” Norau could not get a lucky hit in the dim light and only grazed the bodyguard’s chest. He came soon to learn the battle prowess of his enemy as a giant fist hit his left arm, bruising it. Immediately, Matthias was on his side, attacking Borgo. There was however little he could do with the small knife, and so he only struck air. Now there were two against one, with more people looking for an opening behind, but the giant man was still dangerous, especially now that he was fighting for his life.

The flamboyantly clad boss looked in horror as one of his best servants was being attacked. With a curse in Tilean that would make children cry, he quickly turned tail and ran back through the door he’d come through. Adriana saw it and tried to follow him, but there was no way she was getting past the combatants. Through a mess of arms and weapons she could see the bright yellows and purples disappear into the wall and the iron door being closed.

Victor also saw it, as he was moving on the opposite sidewalk. With substantial risk he had leapt across the brown river of sewage and landed on the other side. He had gone around on the outer side of the left-turning corner, till he reached a position where he was standing parallel with Borgo, who was standing right by the inner part of the corner fighting Norau and Matthias. The sidewalk in front of him was open, with a few torches hanging on the wall on the hundred meter straight line running in front of him before the pipes to a sharp turn to the right.

Borgo lunged at Norau, trying to grab the shaft of the woodsman axe. Moving far too slowly he missed, and so did his punches which Norau kept well out of distance from. Norau struck back, but also Borgo knew to keep the blonde man’s blows away.
Moving up behind, Cerin was getting within spear distance.

Ferzo winced as he saw and heard the two big brutes clash, and quickly retreated, putting Cerin, Vincent and Adriana in front of him. The fight now largely happened on the other side of the corner, and Ferzo could not see much, but he was intently listening to predict the outcome – at the same time throwing glances behind Celeste (who was at the end of the trail now, together with Gustav) to look for more enemies and, if things went really bad, an escape route.

Wounds:
Borgo: Undisclosed.

Norau Sige: 11 wounds.

Cerin Minathi: 10 wounds

Celeste: 7 wounds.

Matthias: 6 wounds.

Giorgini Ferzo: Undisclosed.

Vincent: 9 wounds.

Adriana: 9 wounds.

Gustav: 4 wounds.

Victor: 9 wounds.

Cut-out of the pipe section - hopefully it's easy to see there's two sidewalks and a river inbetween (which I couldn't be arsed to colour).

Colour code:

Red: Borgo

Pink: Celeste
Yellow: Norau
Orange: Matthias
Grey: Giorgini Ferzo
Green: Gustav
Olive Green (ish): Victor

The position of the rest have been described in the text, hopefully you'll work it out.

OOC: Alright, so we're back to a good round of hack and slash - but the Sewers isn't a place where you want to remain stationary for long periods of time, so you gotta move and act quick...

I'm gone for three weeks now, and I hope everyone's posted in that time so I can do a new update when I'm coming back.

Cyris DeLeonse won't be around for a while due to personal reasons, so I've offered Kiyo to play Vincent. If so, he'll be making an IC post. If Kiyo doesn't want it, I'll offer it to anyone else interested, otherwise I'll just play him myself in case Cyris shows up (or I need a life to throw away).

And yeah, this update wasn't my best literary work, but you guys didn't do what I wanted you to, so hopefully we'll get a move along...

In case no one comes up with a clever idea, I might do a prolonged series of combat rounds in one go, just to pick up the pace. Keep this in mind when describing your character's actions.

Victor sneaked forwards on the other side of the sewage river after he had leaped over it.
He heard the halfling scream something, meaning that his ploy didin't work as Victor had suspected all the way long.
"pah, foolish halfling. Speech never gets anything" He thought while going on towards the door.
He saw the noble or whatever he was running through the door and decided that he would try to stop him from getting reinforcements as the battle with the bodyguard didn't seem to be too easy.

Victor jumps over the river again and tries to catch the noble before he alarms more people to aid. (sense of danger 1[3])
If he alarms more people, Victor will try to return unseen if possible, otherwise running. He will not face more than one person per time.
If the noble has stopped to do something, Victor will try to assail him unseen if possible, but directly if not. (light weapons 2[6]) and (human anatomy 2[5]) if sneakattacking or whatever. You decide which best or what.

Matthia found himself stuck against the river of sludge, and the broad shoulders of Norau, making his attempts to attack the giant lout of a man impossible and his knife sliced ineffectually past the mans head. With a grunt of disappointment, the tall wizard gave a curt shout to Norau,

'Duck!'

Not waiting to see if his companion had heard or followed his shout, the fire mage muttered a word of power and a fireball erupted from his now outstretched hand....

OOC: Matthias will cast a level 1 fireball at Borgo, after taking a step back.

A light smile displayed on Norau's features, Borgo was a tough adversary. The white-haired man had stepped from the corner too early and his surprise attack had failed, and now it was time for a more straight-forward job. As the bodyguard attempted to take a hold of his axe Norau managed to keep the distance. His opponent was smarter than he expected, combat-wise at least, and the dark man was trying to get rid of of the northerling's advantage.

Norau's eyes then widened as he realised the wizard was barking mad, attempting to hurl one of his magical flames at point blank range. With a grunt Norau ducked as low as his mass would allow, striking at Borgo's legs so that he wouldn't be able to do the same or take advantage of the white-haired man in the situation. Ideally he would make a nice and big chop in Borgo's leg and then he would be roasted, but Norau just hoped at least one of the two would happen.

Norau ducks down to avoid getting scorched by an insane spellcaster. As he does so he strikes at Borgo's legs using Incredible Strength, hoping that if he doesn't cleave in his leg he will at least prevent the dark man from taking advantage of the situation or ducking and dodging the fireball.

Celeste thought that after all, given her equipment, she wasn't going to make a difference into this random fight as many could think. The best stance she would take was to wait in the rear guard, and wait to see if anyone needed madical aid, or another hand in a fight.

After hearing the wizard shouting "Duck!" to Norau, she knew she made the right decision. After all, too many cooks spoil a good soup.

Celeste will delay her actions to see how the situation develops.
