Re: Enemy of the month: Dark Elves
I've played a lot of matches against DE, since my main opponent has them as his only army. Also, in tournaments, I've faced numerous Dark Elf lists with all the usual suspects, lots of warlocks, lots of fast cav heroes, peg lords, witch elf hordes with and without a cauldron. I've never lost to DE ...

Re: Questions about Chariots
I ran a Lion Chariot at a small tournament some months ago. Against the first Tomb Kings it died to casket before combat, against the others he rolled across the table and ate a unit of archers. There should have been a third but I can't remember it. In a unit the Tiranocs lose free reforms - it's a...

Magnets. If you need to sometimes play the spears as Seaguard the bow&quiver can be painted and magnetized on for the battle in question.

Re: Skaven screaming bell
7x3 Swordmasters have 28 attacks, for 21 hits, 7 wounds... with a 4++ save, they alone should still kill it in 2 turns of combat. After lances the helms contribute little, but the Grifffin something and the Noble maybe, depending on weapon. So if you need 4 rounds of combat, it's more that you need ...

Re: Large Targets
True LoS makes hiding behind units difficult for everyone, and leads to discussions. A more streamlined system, perhaps along the lines of size based on unit type and cover for same/smaller would be preferable. [I'd also like to get rid of templates, since deciding how many models are hit is difficu...

Re: Allies Magic Items and Magic Phase Dice Questions
If you've submitted lists beforehand, they don't change. So some magic items or special characters supposedly unique can find themselves on both sides of the board. PD/DD are not carried over as a rule. Empire and Vampires used to have items that allowed them to save dice, but I think they're gone n...

Re: Shooting and Chariots inside units
I believe the Bell/Furnace have special rules stating they can be targeted inside units. However for the Cauldron, it should be like any other character, so you can target it with sniper and cannons, but not normal archers.

Re: If games had only four turns...
At my tournament yesterday I finished 3 of 4 games, but 1 only went through 4:th turn.
My experience is that I finish most games, but during a normal 5-game tourney I'll lose 1-3 turns from 1-2 games. I'm a little slow, so against a slow opponent there is a real risk of not having enough time.

Re: Challenge Refusal
I thought characters can "Make Way!" as long as he isn't in base to base contact with anything else, therefore a BSB that refused a challenge can make way the next round. But a question popped up in my head, if the BSB refuses a challenge, is he placed all the way at the very back of the ...

Re: Flank bolts vs. characters in front rank
As per page 111: If 5+ rnf, can only hit rnf - that is to say option 1. The exception is if the rank consists only of characters/champions, in which case it's randomized. The rules do not appear to be clear as to whether one completes the shot first and then removes models slain, or if slain models ...

Wipeout, reform or combat reform?
Hello. Situation: My Phoenix is battling the enemy BSB, I charge in the Lions 7x4 in the flank to help, putting the lions partially along the length of the Phoenix's base. Enemy BSB killed. Are there scenarios? And if so, do they require banners?
If the answer to the second is no, I strongly suggest dropping the banners on the reavers, since odds are you'll sacrifice them at some point, and giving up 25 extra points is a disadvantage, and it's unlikely they'll ever need the CR

Re: Swedish Comp - Struggling to find inspiration
Take your list and write the comp for each unit. That way you see if there's something in particular that brings down your army. You're not supposed to write your list and then score it, that way you can get a very incorrect score because having just 1 more in many units will move you a compstep or ...

I intend to participate in a 2300 pts tourney, 3 games, battleline deployment, and the following scenarios: 1) Blood & Glory, but you continue until both players have finished an equal number of turns if someone breaks. 2) Quarters: If you have more flags than your opponent in a table quarter at...

You can change your faceing after the charge but you must maintain the same number of modles in contact. I use him but mounted on a skycutter. Cannot find a good use for him in a unit as his ability is normally only used when you make a mistake. You're not allowed to remove models from base contact...

Re: newbie needing tactical advice
The griffonlord is not considered very strong, I'd recommend an Archmage as a lord and playing the griffon as a Noble. Hammer & Anvil, refers to a tactic of pinning the enemy in place with something durable (the Anvil), and then coming in with something hardhitting (the Hammer) to destroy the en...

Re: Shooting range, firing in multiple ranks
Here having 20 mm infantry is an advantage - you can place the second rank at just below 30", which'll put the front rank at a hair below 29". Well deployed this means you can shoot RXBs, while they'll have to march to be in range. Discuss with opponent during deployment, in case either ge...

My metal eagles kept breaking the flight stands, so I replaced one of them with a thick greenstuff pillar - not aesthetically pleasing, and the other has its claws in a lump of greenstuff, which arguably could reprent a small rock.

Re: glade guard models as high elf archers ?
I used Glade Riders for my Reavers, and find them perfectly functional. The horses & bodies lack armour but I don't consider that too significant. I replaced the heads and arms with spare parts from the spear/archer kit, in order to change the aesthetic, and the GR bits are more slender but it w...
