Re: Why the Hate on Spearmen and Core Units?

I enjoy my spears. They tend to last longer than much of my elite infantry, and pair well with my Lion Chariots. The spears have the advantage of being "just spears" in the eyes of my opponents. When they hit the enemy line and provide solid steadfast combat resolution that often has wildf...

Re: Lion Chariot Smash army 2500 (Updated with new book)

I really need to move somewhere where I can play more than once every three months. That said I did get an interesting game in over the the weekend. I played a two on two 2500 points each game. Featured were Empire, Dwarves, Warriors of Chaos and my Chariot Smash High Elves. Because there was no cle...

Re: Chariot Type - Preferred?

I run three chariots in what I call the Chariot Smash army. I use two lion chariots and one tiranoc. They do serve very different rolls. My tiranoc works more like an eagle while my lions support my infantry. The lions really add a lot of punch to spears. They all are a bit squishy, but when there a...

Re: Lion Chariot Smash army 2500 (Updated with new book)

He did get torn up like a wet paper bag in a duel with Wulfrik. I guess the fight could have gone the other way with a lucky killing blow, but he just felt too easy to kill. 4+ save in close combat with tough 3 doesn't leave him standing long against a stiff breeze. I really want to like him its jus...

Re: Lion Chariot Smash army 2500 (Updated with new book)

I tried my first game with the new book. I ran the army above with a few adjustments. I dropped the BSB for Korhil and put the battle standard on my griffon noble. This also cost me the tiranoc chariot in favor of one extra dragon prince. My opponent ran a strange WoC list something like this: Valki...

Re: Lion Chariot Smash army 2500

Well I finally get to try out a game with the new book so I thought I would bring my old army blog back to like and post my updated list. So to start out my goals with this list are as follows: - Put enough pressure on an opponent to force them into my line - Use chariots to provide a solid counter ...

Re: Chariot Army

I joined the ranks of the high elves because of lions pulling chariots. Love the model and I have always loved chariots. That said, chariots are best in support of your units as opposed to the core of the list. I have had a fair amount of success with what I call the chariot smash army, an army that...

Re: BSB Builds

I finally got to order my new book, but it won't be here for a few more days. The infantry BSB question is one that has been weighing heavily on my mind however. I run an infantry heavy army that likes having the BSB centrally located so mounting him is tough. In the old days of AoC and a Dawnstone ...

Re: Lion Chariot Smash army 2500

I like your thoughts Rod. After the earlier comments I played with the list a bit and came up with something similar. Archmage, Level 4, Staff of Solidity (Heavens) - 280 Noble BSB, GW AoC Dawnstone - 168 Mage, Level 1, dispel scroll (high) - 120 30 Seaguard FC - 415 10 Archers - 110 10 Archers - 11...

Re: Lion Chariot Smash army 2500

The Dragon Princes give me a mobile hammer. They also are a fairly resilient unit and currently the only place I have I can put the banner. I have played around with taking them out, but without them I concede the movement phase almost entirely to my opponent. I use the DPs instead of helms because ...

Re: Lion Chariot Smash army 2500

Pulling a bit of threadomancy here, but I have been unable to game much for a while and I am trying to get back in by heading to my first Fantasy tournament ever this weekend. I have been refining my Chariot Smash army over the past few months, and wanted to get a little feed back on the new design....

Revealing a Banner

I recently played a game against Warriors of Chaos, where my DP bus charged a unit of Warriors with the mark of Tzeentch. Due to poor rolling and my chariot not making the support charge the DPs didn't have much of an impact on the warriors and got ground down until they broke and ran. Later the war...

Re: Chariot Smash v2 2500

I take the LSG instead of the archers for two reasons. The first is that I want a second anvil for my chariots to hammer on. I also reallly like the new seaguard models. Perhaps not the best reason to take them but if you don't like the modles you play with why play?

Re: 2000 points Cavalry Hammer

I like the list Curu. How do you use the 16 sword masters? Do you run the 8x2 or deeper? I like my SMs, but I only run small units of them usually 10 or 12. I am also afraid of dropping the BoS in the unit because they are so fragile.

Chariot Smash v2 2500

Now that I have put a few more games behind me and added a few models to my collection I am trying to refine my Chariot Smash army and looking for some more insight. In my last thread I determined what I wanted to accomplish with this army: - Put enough pressure on an opponent to force them into my ...

Re: Why high elves over dark elves?

It took me a while to get to High Elves. I started with Vampire Counts, because I like skeletons and necromancers. I hated playing the army because I had no shooting. So I sold them and bought dwarfs. Now I had some awesome shooters, but not much more than that. Again games were boring for me (for t...

Re: Lore of beasts any good?

I really like the lore of beasts, I just can never get it to perform well for me. The lore just doesn't have much synergy. I agree with Curu that wildform is great for a level 1. I like to use it on a mage knight in a dragon prince (or helm) bus. I want the lore to work, it just doesn't work well fo...

Re: Has anyone tried this Prince setup?

I haven't used it yet, but that is exactly the build I was thinking about trying out. I wanted to have a strong infantry General to anchor my battle line that had some survivability and could help clear out some big baddies. I like the build. The other I had played around with is: Prince Armor of Ca...

Re: Campaign Help

SchlieffenB, I love campaigns! I hope yours can be good fun. Mines produce a random amount of gold per turn 2d6x10 on mountains and 1d6x10 on rivers (I believe, I don't have my mighty empires rules in front of me.) You can spend one gold per point extra to a maximum of like 350. I also highly recomm...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports

I have a quick question about your Prince/BSB leadership bubble. How often are they within range of the main body of your army to provide that leadership 10 with re-roll? I am struggling to make points work to take both and it seems like the way your army works out they probably don't help the major...

Re: Strategies for army types - naming thread

I think the updated opening post really clarifies and sums up the discussion up to this point fairly well. I don't know if it is good or bad that I am now trying to fit my army builds into one of the categories provided. On one hand I feel like it is detrimental to feel constrained by the "box&...

Re: are lothern seaguard good?

I don't know that I can definitively say they are good, but I have been pleasantly surprised every time I use them. Even in a moderately sized block of 25 you get a solid amount of shooting and an intimidating anvil. I agree with krysith, I am surprised at how much more afraid opponents can be of ch...

Re: Linked Battles Campaign

I like that idea a lot Bolt Thrower. I wanted the Leonis to be able to have a considerable impact on the game once he finished closing the rift, but not give the WoC 2-3 turns of massive magical advantage. I'll post some reports as I play the games. It looks like I should be able to get the first ga...

Re: Return of Seredain the Cavalry Prince - 2.5K

Amazing battle report as usual Seredain. Were those all 5+ wards he was making? If so, I think he stole all the pips off my space marine dice who consistently manage to fail 3+ armor saves at the same rate that he was making those wards.

Re: Linked Battles Campaign

Thanks for the feed back! My theory with the free archmage is that not only can he not cast for the first half of the game, but also that he is using up power dice during that time too. Four dice out of the pool each turn until he has finished closing the rift is a fairly heft fee for an army that r...

I came up with what I think are some solid ideas, but I think the cavalry is the stronger way to go. I w...
