Hey, for those with a BlackBerry running BB10.2, you can get the app from 1Mobile app store. Worked fine on my Z10.

Re: Bound spells and Lore attribute
This was the closest FAQ I could find for this subject: "Q:If a bound spell is from a Lore of Magic with a lore attribute, will the successful casting of the bound spell also trigger the lore attribute? (p37) A: Yes. It is worth noting that some lore attributes effects targets the Wizard casti...

Re: Bound spells and Lore attribute
The item might be used to cast the spell, but it is still certainly the wizard casting the spell (using the item). The Book itself does just talk of "the bearer". While I can see how others can view it this way, the Bound Spells (pg 37) rule notes that "...Possessing a bound spell do...

Re: Uphill battle against empire while using 'all-comers' list?
One bolt thrower might as well be no bolt thrower. I'm going to +1 the too many lord level wizards. They are both cool, but if your going to be serious about playing the game you sometimes have to no include models or units you would like. So on that note I'd drop one. The Lore master can work as a...

Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
The logic for me then is simple. - A SM has ASF - When a SM is attacking he uses his GW, which gives him ASL (per the first sentence of ASL). - If you have ASF and ASL the 2 cancel out (per the last sentence of ASL). - This means that SM strike in initiative (since the model uses neither ASF or ASL...

Re: Bound spells and Lore attribute
Also can you use Book of hoeth on bound items? The bound spell casting attempt is being made by the magic item itself, not the wizard. The BoH only applies to the “his” [wizard’s] spell casting and dispel attempts. Because the wizard is not making the casting attempt, the benefit of the BoH doesn’t...

This is how I read his rule too.Turion Rilyaloce wrote:I think Teclis actually picks a spell from each lore, it's not capped by his wizard level. So if you go Brb he has 8 spells, one from each lore. Instead if you take high magic he knows all 8, so he is really versatile.

Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
@rdghuizing: Scenario #3 reinforces that when a rule does not apply to the condition being resolved, the model can still benefit from the same Special Rule if applied again. Refer to “Cavalry and Special Rules” (BRB, pg 82) where we are told that “Unless otherwise noted, special rules that apply to ...

Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
As there seems to be no support of Interpretation #2 for the above scenarios, one can only assume Interpretation #1 (“For a model not to be able to benefit from the same Special Rule again, the Special Rule must apply to the action being resolved) is supported. Since the interaction of ASF and ASL i...

Re: counters to MC and Monsters
The counter to MC unit/monsters I tend to use is a multi-layered approach of redirectors, magic, and WL. I expect to be able to still use this approach with the new book. In the old book, I relied primarily on four GE as my redirectors. With the new book, we are limited to 2 GE in a regular army and...

Re: 024 High Elves vs Bretonnia
Interesting game. You were almost able to fight back from several tactical errors and win. As for your stars of the game, your Archers, I have a couple of comments about their initial formations. For the unit on the hill (looked like 20 models in total), with the new book why did you not put this un...

Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
Rules are pretty clear, ASF and ASL cancel each other out, but do not removed the rules from the model. Any additional rules of ASF or ASL applied to the unit are useless as multiples of special rules don't stack (unless otherwise noted, which it is not in the case of ASF and ASL) Once again you ha...

Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
We are four years into 8th ed and no model has ever been played this way. Why would it start now? There are plenty of other armies where Asf and Asl happen on the same model. None of them reroll. The original debate was whether or not that once a unit is striking in initiative order can it then ben...

Re: I cannot understand how Naval discipline works!
@Danton, here is how I would do it: 1. Declare my Charge Reaction as “Hold” in each case; 2. Opponent resolves charges on the unit; 3. Declare that I’m using the ND rule; 4. Nominate the facing of my unit as desired; 5. Establish which of the opponent’s models are in base contact with my unit before...

Re: New book power level
With the books as they are now, I see the new HE book and lower part of the mid tier. Assuming Lizardmen, Skaven, and DE get appropriately toned down in their upcoming re-writes and GW does not goof-up WE and Brets by making them overpowered, then the relative power of the books may not mean much as...

Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
I really hope that GW advises that the model can be affected because if they don’t I expect that there is likely going to be an unintended consequence of such a decision and that consequence will be that models with ASF and ASL will still retain the ability re-roll their misses. Yeah I’m sure I’m go...

Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
I'll add it to the FAQ list, see if we can get an answer from GW. Ok, let’s ask something like: “When a model has ASF and ASL it strikes based on its initiative because these Special Rules cancel and neither applies, does this also mean that the model no longer benefits from this pairing of Special...

Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
As far as I’m concerned the entire debate boils down to the presence of the portion of the rule you quoted (see below). While you tend to focus on reading the underlined portion, the important part of this rule is the section that I have bolded. "If a model has both this rule [Always Strikes La...

Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
The BRB states you can not have more of the samme EFFECT, not the rule btw. It also states that a rule dose not get any benefit of having it multiple times. So, is ASL a benefit or is it a penalty? Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
If you are keen to use a mathematical argument, then the proper one (based on the FAQ entry quoted in earlier posts) is: (1) Do you have one or more instances of ASF? true/false (true, in this case) (2) Do you have one or more instances of ASL? true/false (true, in this case) (3) Do I always strike...

Re: White Lions in the new book
The icing on the cake for this unit will be the inclusion of dual 2nd level Light Wizards. These guys will have Timewarp between them around 90% of the time, which when cast on this unit changes it into an ASF +1 attack blender unit. They don't get ASF again. They've already had it once and lost it...

Re: White Lions in the new book
With new book I expect to be using WL in 28, 35, or 40 model formations (including planned character placements) as these unit sizes gives me the most flexibility around formation options to best address the unit that it will be taking on. Most of my lists will likely include the econo-horde 28 mode...

Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
This is a very gamey interpretation for me, since it suddenly starts to matter in what order asf and asl are applied. Actually, I would consider your interpretation that WL/SM would not be affected by a further application of ASL as gamey. So according to you: asf + asf + asl = go in initiative sin...

Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
Well, that is not the way I read it. cancel out - wipe out the effect of something; From: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/cancel+out So by going by this, the unit still has the ASF and ASL rule, just not the effect. Thus by having the rules you can not gain them again because Special rules do not ...

Re: ASF+GW+ASL from Frost Phoenix
WL and SM are basically immune to being affected by ASL and ASF from anything. I’m not so sure that I agree this interpretation of the FAQ relative to ASF and ASL interactions. In the case of ASF + ASL, the rules have a stated outcome of this interaction and that outcome is that neither rule applie...
