I haven't personally done it, but I see no reason why not to use Eternal Guard as spears. All sorts of people use Wood elves for High Elves and Vice Versa.

I think the ghost is interesting, but bland to look at. As for the gold, it hurts my eyes to look at it. The paint job is great, but the colors...then again, certain colors hurt my eyes anyway. Overall, I prefer the purple one.

Reading through the Skaven FAQ and Army Book, I see nothing that says he can't cast it from combat into combat as long as the caster has Line of Sight. I think it's supposed to be considered a Direct damage spell, but I'm not sure and there is nothing to back up that claim in the book.

The reavers, Frost phoenix, eagle, the bolt throwers, the white Lions, and one of the BSBs.

I'd have to find the rulebook page, but ASL and ASF don't stack, so you can't make elves ever strike last without removing ASF. That's why Light spells like Timewarp aren't completely broken on units of White Lions and Swordsmasters.
