Re: Take heart! (Spoilers!)
The uncertainty certainly is very irritating. I am a really slow painter so I like to have a good long term plan of what I’m working on without painting up superfluous units. In this regard all the rumours of 9th are terrifying! (will it be an infantry game, cav game, monster game? Will my units sti...

Re: ET:Khaine - army lists speculation
Rod, I don’t think it’s correct to ignore the paragraphs in the overview section. There are several rules in the overview that are not found in the main section: One example would be that only the overview says that end times spells cannot be dispelled when “cast”, the following section says they ca...

Re: How do we deal with Karl Franz?
Agreed! If there was a life wizard hanging out within life bloom range it would have to go before any attempt at grinding him down could be made. At that point though we are looking at over 1000 points in characters and the army is going to start looking like an undead army lead by Nagash. At least ...

Re: How do we deal with Karl Franz?
Having a couple of units in the army that can hold him and wear him down slowly seems like a good idea (and easily done for high elves), phoenix guard (maybe with a razor standard) and lions or princes with the banner of the world dragon would all be a good start (as has already been discussed these...

Re: On unit based play and 50% characters
As a fellow fan of the “more units less characters approach” I share your concerns about lots and lots of monster riding characters. Under ETC line of sight I could see something like the five frosty list getting seriously out of hand against a lot of armies. Prior to 8th one large flyer was serious...

Re: Path To Glory - Double Whammy vs TK & DE 02.09!
Yep the star dragon is certainly a dicey fight against the beasts and using it hold them is certainly a better option than trying to grind them down (doing the latter means you HAVE to cast apotheosis each turn). The frosty allowing the dragon a 3+ save should help a fair bit though, takes the wound...

Re: Path To Glory - vs DoC 12 Beasts 2 Cannons 30.08!
Hello, thought I would chime in on this once since I can comment on things from both sides of the fence against daemons. Let’s talk beasts since you seem to have a strong dislike for them (they are fantastic after all, but I’d place them alongside skull crushers, demis, and frostys rather than a lea...

Re: Boothy's Battle Blog
More wood elves for you. This one was on universal battle against someone who's name I have forgotten. Level 4 (steed, death, doom and darkness, soulblight, fate, spirit leech) Bsb (steed, hail of doom) Level 1 (steed, death, caress) 4x10 glade guard (trueflight) 2x6 scouts (hagbane) 3x6 wild riders...

Re: Boothy's Battle Blog
No problem at all Swordmaster, I like the long responses! I have been on break over the last week so haven’t been checking the forums all that often. I’ll certainly keep posting up games, at the very least it helps me consolidate my thoughts and evaluate the games more. I have another game against w...

Re: Is 2 x Level 4 casters crazy?
The daemons were an interesting one actually. People often say that ITP and wards = magical resilience but it does vary. ITP means you cant flee (or even break from combat and escape from) magically turbo charged units. There are also a few spells that really hurt them. On the flip side if people do...

Re: Is 2 x Level 4 casters crazy?
Having just come of the back of a year and a half with no mages at all I firmly believe its possible to play without a scroll! Most of the time I was using daemons, but I tried the no magic approach with lizards, skaven, brets, and wood elves as well, and they can all pull it off to varying levels o...

Re: Is 2 x Level 4 casters crazy?
Two level 4’s should be OK, I’d be tempted to keep them reasonably cheap though. I generally think there are a few ways to use magic and half measures are not one of them: - Option one is to spam loads of low cast modest spells, each one has an effect but no single one is required much more than the...

Re: Boothy's Battle Blog
Thanks guys, good to know you are enjoying the report. Jimmy – I game on average about once a week, but I work in the bush so there tends to be a gaming frenzy when I'm back in Perth and then a hiatus while I'm away. I also play a few other game systems, Warhammer takes most of my gaming time but so...

Boothy's Battle Blog - Updated 29/08/2014
Hi people. I have recently jumped on board with high elves after many years of gaming and thought I might try and get a battle blog going on here to chart my experience and thoughts as the army develops. As you can see from the list below I like having plenty of medium sized units with as few charac...
