Obviously, it looks great. Why is the water so blue though? That is a killer army for sure.

Is this the one where Tom Richards destroyed you with Brettonians? Saw one of his most recent reports and he stomped on a Stag Lord, Treekin, Eternal Guard etc. If so, my condolences sir.

Re: Three Ranks of Cavalry
Yeah, which in a way goes a long way to explain the difficulties facing the High Elves. Takes an entire game to get things working right so that your foot troops can help out your mounted hammer unit. In the end, not like this stuff costs enough money to prevent somebody from having a big unit of Dr...

Re: counters to MC and Monsters
Best way to deal with that sort of stuff is to play a better army. High Elves got boned pretty good unless you are in the camp that thinks that S3 BS fire or lousy RBTs are going to do much.

Re: Three Ranks of Cavalry
But, Princes get an extra WS, I, and Ld don't they? And they get the 6+ Ward Save and the 2+ Ward vs fire. The point is clear, but Silver Helms are not as good as Princes, hence the points difference. I have seen a few lists that are running a Prince unit with characters in it and it is 3 ranks deep.

Re: Reforged - Game 8 -- VC with pics!
Sweet report. Very interesting to read. I must say that those Ghouls got simply shredded...shocking almost. What would be your best solution to Nightshroud? That seems brutal in general and especially so against "elf stats". In the end you gave him a proper kicking, which is always nice. H...

Re: What size base does the Eagle Claw Bolt Thrower go on?
I put my old metal ones on 50x50 bases with the crew behind them on standard 20x20s, then I made a movement tray for the whole thing and glued the RBT to the plasticard while having the crew able to pop in and out of their slots on the tray. Just in case they fail to kill what they are shooting at a...

Re: A couple questions for the most brilliant of Ulthuan's artsy
I go for effectiveness. Had to scrub some old plastics about 6 times using the green cleaner. Sure, it does technically work, but it takes so long that I would rather burn my figures into ash than spend that many times trying to get rid of paint on them. I didn't realize that the degreaser was consi...

Castrol Purple Power or something like that is the best one that I have found. Blows that green one away...from my experience at least. I got mine at an auto supply store. Autozone or something similar. Cost about 10 bucks or so. Good stuff, just make sure to wear your gloves and don't make a mess o...

Re: Swordmasters in the new Army Book
If you have metal Swordmasters, the best way to use them now is to put them in a tube sock and try to bludgeon your opponent, hopefully a woefully out of shape and slow, unatheletic gamer type (distract him if you must), into unconsciousness. Then, you can take what is left of them out of the sock a...

Nice greenstuff and conversion work. I just watched a video on youtube about converting an IoB griffon with leftover bits into a Flamespyre Phoenix. Looks much more dynamic than the one from the stock kit, but something still seems slightly off about it and I am not sure what it is. Great work and l...

Thanks for the detailed response Hero. Trying to nail down my first draft list to take to a tournament later in the year and struggling to fit everything in. Also, I am unsure about core. Currently, I am thinking 3 units of 5 Reavers and 2 units of 15 Archers with musician. 25 White Lions, 25 Phoeni...

A Longbow and Heavy Armour?;) Oh yeah, and the mini characters that give abilities seem something akin to unit attachments from Warmahordes to me...except in that game the UAs are usually invaluable unlike the steaming piles that are the Seahelm and Handmaiden.

Cool, thanks for the reply. It seems very frustrating to have more choices and at th...

I plan on buying the book this week, so it will be worth it to me, even if I choose to ignore the colour schemes. Source material and inspiration is always a good thing for me and really, what is $33 anymore? Doesn't buy much at all, so it is a small luxury purchase in the end.

Re: HERO's Guide to High Elf Glory [8th Edition]
Out of curiosity, how exactly is the new book the best book of 8th again? Monster-mash sucks, cavalry heavy sucks...seems like less than a month in and already it is "build one of two lists and pray that the match-up is favorable". Sad times indeed...oh yeah, and don't take Spearmen, Seagu...

Re: Which Book Do You Like Better?
It is too early to say about some things as it will depend on exactly how harshly Lizardmen and Dark Elves among others are dealt with. Being a pessimist by nature, I see the High Elves being relegated to something near the Wood Elves once several more books are released. The Wood Elves have core ca...

Re: Saving Twitter spam Finreir The new book(for tournie gamers)
I don't know...how does it compare to the other 8th edition books? It kinda stinks compared to the others in my opinion. Tons of options in the other books too and some of them are actually top tier too. However, for me at least, none of the other books are called "High Elves" and I don't ...

Loving the detailed reports. Anxious to read more. It seems that magic is not very reliable or powerful anymore...and that the Phoenix is kinda bad without a combo charge going off. Good stuff for sure though. Thanks for writing these up and providing insight.

Which spell lore do you think provides the best combination of buffs, debuffs, game winners, utility and low casting values (to maximize with the Book of Hoeth) for High Elves. High Magic seems to be mediocre to bad.

Spears give them +1 Strength on the charge. With the rerolls for Always Strikes First, they have a pretty good chance to win against most warmachine crew.

Which army are you leaning towards for competitive play finreir? Re: Furion's thoughts on the new armybook and cost of units
Problem matchups for High Elves: Skaven, Lizardmen (which based on 8th so far will stop being a bad matchup in August), and Daemons of Chaos (Ironically) I think High Elves have a neutral to strong match-up against just about every other army. I hardly see that as lower tier.[/quote] How do the new ...

Re: The best book of 8th -- says me
Nice write up. Not sure if I agree on docking an entire point for the Banner of the World Dragon. How can it be the best book when it is going to lose more than it wins against the other 8th edition books and top tier armies? Wondering what the "power" option will be from this book. I also...
